The young princess and her family met with athletes, volunteers and one cheeky mascot at the Commonwealth Games in Scotland over the weekend

Princess Charlotte may be royalty, but that doesn’t exempt her from a little lighthearted ribbing.
The 11-year-old princess attended the Commonwealth Games in Glasgow, Scotland, on Saturday, Aug. 1, alongside her parents, Kate Middleton and Prince William, both 44, and brothers Prince George, 13, and Prince Louis, 8.
During their time at the Games — which are held every four years and bring together athletes from across the Commonwealth of Nations to compete — the family took in some of the sporting contests, including track cycling and netball.
They also met with athletes and volunteers, including Finnie, the unicorn mascot of the Games, who represents the mythical national animal of Scotland.
As the family shook hands with the mascot and a group of volunteers outside the SEC Centre, Princess Charlotte appeared to catch a chill, wrapping her arms around herself. In a video shared by Hello! magazine, Finnie noticed, and cheekily shivered back at her, with a point for emphasis, leading to laughs from the group.

The princess laughed it off and gamely high-fived the mascot, watching on as her younger brother, Prince Louis, did the same.
The Commonwealth Games outing marked Louis’ first public sporting event with his family, as well as the children’s first public appearance in Scotland.
At the Commonwealth Games, the royals met with gymnasts Abigail and Emily Roper at the Wales House, where Princess Charlotte’s own gymnastics skills were discussed.
The Telegraph reported that, during their chat, Prince William remarked that Charlotte “loves gymnastics and ballet,” while Princess Kate pointed out that her youngest was also working on his own acrobatic skills.
“Louis, you’re perfecting your handstand at the moment,” she shared.
“A bit,” Louis agreed. “But Charlotte says I’m not very good.”
Charlotte, who received a signed Team Wales leotard from the gymnasts, confirmed that she could do a handstand, while their older brother, Prince George, admitted, “I’m rubbish at anything that involves flexibility.”

Even their parents got in on the laughs.
During a chat with past U.K. cycling champions Sir Chris Hoy and Dame Laura Kenny, Kenny invited William and Kate to “come and give it a go” on a tandem bike.
Welsh TV presenter Gethin Jones posed the question to their kids, asking, “Would you like to see mum and dad on a tandem in the velodrome later?” and Prince George answered decisively: “No.”
“We embarrass you enough as it is,” Prince William agreed with a laugh.
