Princess Beatrice’s birthday tribute from Edoardo Mapelli Mozzi included a glimpse behind the scenes of a recent royal wedding.
To mark Beatrice’s 38th birthday on Aug. 8, her husband posted a series of photos on Instagram along with a sweet note: “Happy Birthday to my phenomenal, beautiful wife. We love [you] so much. You make our world.”
After opening the carousel with a photo of Princess Beatrice and Edo, 42, all dressed up, he also included some more casual snaps in the four-photo post. Among the newly seen images was a selfie that appears to have been taken at the June 6 wedding of Beatrice’s cousin Peter Phillips to Harriet Sperling. Edo seems to have snapped the selfie with one hand while holding an umbrella in the other as Beatrice gives a smile as she sits in a car.

Edo carried an umbrella for his wife of six years as they made their way into All Saints’ Church in Kemble, dodging the rain as they made their way inside for the nuptials. Princess Beatrice and Edo walked slightly ahead of her sister, Princess Eugenie, and Eugenie’s husband, Jack Brooksbank.
Many other members of the royal family were also in attendance at Peter’s second wedding, including King Charles and Queen Camilla, Prince William and Kate Middleton, Prince Edward and Sophie, as well as Peter’s mother, Princess Anne and her husband, Vice Admiral Sir Timothy Laurence, and Peter’s sister, Zara Tindall, and her husband, Mike Tindall.
The outing was significant for Beatrice and Eugenie, marking their first at a royal family event amid renewed interest in their parents’, the former Prince Andrew and Sarah Ferguson, ties to the late Jeffrey Epstein.

Despite the family drama, Princess Beatrice was seen receiving a warm greeting from her cousin Prince William.
When Andrew’s royal titles were stripped last year, PEOPLE understood that the royal status of his daughters remained “wholly unaffected.”
While Beatrice and Eugenie were expected to attend the nuptials of Peter, their parents were reportedly not invited to the celebration.
Ahead of the wedding, a friend of Peter and Harriet’s told Hello! magazine that “it was probably not deemed appropriate to invite” the former Duke and Duchess of York.
“It’s Peter and Harriet’s special day, and clearly their attendance would cause a distraction to the whole day,” the friend said.
