Pierce Brosnan and his wife, Keely Shaye Brosnan, are considering selling their Malibu, Calif. residence after more than two decades.
Speaking from the beachfront mansion for an interview with UK newspaper The Times published Friday, Sept. 11, the veteran actor, 73, revealed they are thinking of putting the property on the market, in part due to frequent wildfires and natural disasters in the area.
“We’ve been spared by the fires a few times now. But I think it’s time to move,” Pierce said of their Malibu home. “Everything changes; everything falls apart.”
“We live by this body of earth’s water on a fault in a ring of earthquakes,” the Mamma Mia! star continued, gesturing toward the ocean. “That creates a fear.”

Pierce and Keely, 62, whom he described to The Times as “a powerhouse of a woman,” previously listed the expansive family home on the market for $100 million back in 2020. The couple, who wed in 2001, raised their two sons — Paris, 25, and Dylan, 29 — in the house, but have been spending more time in Keely’s native Hawaii since the boys moved out.
Pierce explained to The Timesthat they have “a little three-bedroom cottage at the end of the road” in Kauai, adding, “We have our own chickens and I have a yurt, where I paint.”
He went on to speak candidly about their financial worries and said that he and Keely’s social circle in the Malibu area has changed quite a bit throughout the years.
“There have been doldrums. I have this beautiful house in Malibu. I have to pay the mortgage. There are school fees,” he explained to The Times. “There are definite moments of, oh, this boat is not quite sinking, but [it might] if we don’t get a job soon.”
“I think the two of us are somewhat reclusive,” the MobLand star said of himself and his longtime love. “It’s a long way into town. We have a small circle of friends here [but] people get divorced, they die, they move on. And we’re still here.”
Pierce and Keely bought the two plots of land the home is built on in 2000 — the year before they tied the knot — for $7.35 million in total, Variety previously reported.
They lived in a small, ranch-style house that previously occupied the property for a few years before tearing it down to custom build their dream home: a five-bedroom, 14-bathroom estate inspired by their travels in Thailand, where Pierce filmed Tomorrow Never Dies.
The oceanfront home features a spa and home cinema, according to The Times, which described the couple’s longtime residence as “like a James Bond fever dream.”

Back when the couple planned to sell the home, which they named “Orchid House,” in 2020, Pierce told the Wall Street Journal, “It’s time to move on… It’s time to change.”
“I love Malibu. It has my heart,” Pierce shared at the time, but said that Hawaii is where the couple would be spending most of their time. “Home is very much here in the islands.”
In addition to his sons with Keely, Pierce also shares sons Christopher, 53, and Sean, 42, and his late daughter, Charlotte, with his first wife, Cassandra Harris. (Harris died from ovarian cancer at age 43 in 1991.)
