“Before it was even a script, it was just the idea of a thing,” he tells PEOPLE. “It was Taylor, Michelle Pfeiffer and Kurt Russell are involved in something, so that was a good indication that I was going to be into it.”
“My family suffered a pretty tragic and very sudden loss that had left our family reeling and confused and heartbroken,” Adams shares. “And so when I read this, I was just sort of shocked at how much of it aligned with what was going on in my life and how I had spent that last year being with my family and taking care of each other and trying to look after my mother.”
“It just felt like sometimes things arrive, and they feel like fate,” the Suits star adds. “And you're like, well, I've been sort of preparing for this unknowingly for a while, and it felt like it made perfect sense.”

The Madison follows the Clyburns, a New York City family, as they move from the city to the Madison River valley of central Montana, all while navigating grief after a devastating tragedy. According to Paramount+, the Western is “a profound love story channeled through a deeply personal family drama about resilience and transformation.”
The story of the Clyburn family will be told “across two distinct worlds — the beautiful landscape of Montana and the vibrant energy of Manhattan — as it examines the ties that bind families together.”
The series is the latest to join Taylor Sheridan’s Yellowstone universe, which also includes Marshals and Dutton Ranch. Along with Adams, The Madison stars Matthew Fox, Kurt Russell, Michelle Pfeiffer, Will Arnett and Elle Chapman among others.
Adam plays Russell McIntosh, the husband of Stacy Clyburn’s (Pfeiffer) daughter Paige McIntosh (Chapman). Russell is an investment banker who’s lived a lavish lifestyle in New York City, according to Paramount+ Sneak Peak.
The Madison premieres March 14 on Paramount+ with three episodes. The following three will premiere on March 21.
