C.J. Uzomah has made the ultimate catch!
The NFL player, 33, married Yasmin Quintana at Suelo Sur in San José del Cabo, Mexico, on Friday, March 6 — almost one year to the day that he proposed to her on March 7, 2025. Uzomah tells PEOPLE that he and Quintana, 30, opted for a four-day-long destination wedding because they wanted their loved ones "to feel like they were on a vacation while celebrating our love and the next chapter of our life."
Adds the bride, "We also love Mexico and feel like the hospitality and food there are next level."
Leaning into the idea of delivering a memorable "vacation" experience for their 113 guests, the couple planned multiple events and activities. "One of my biggest goals was to make everyone feel thought of and have the week feel very intentional," Quintana says.

"It was important for us to have our friends hang out and become one big friend group while celebrating and having a fun time in Mexico," adds Uzomah, a free agent who has played for the Philadelphia Eagles, New York Jets and Cincinnati Bengals.
A number of the groom's NFL friends attended the nuptials, including Zach Wilson, Brandon Allen, Jarrett Stidham, Randall Cobb, Giovani Bernard and Kyle Phillips.

Uzomah and Quintana planned their dream wedding in less than six months, with help from the "incredible" team at Emily Coyne Events. The tight end says their non-negotiables were "incredible food, lively music, and everyone getting on the dance floor at least for a song."
When it came to the décor, they kept things simple, embracing an "earthy" aesthetic with an emphasis on shades of green, to allow the stunning venue to "shine."

Ahead of the big day, Uzomah shared that he was most looking forward to "seeing my bride walk down the aisle and fully immersing myself in the moment," as well as dancing with his new bride and their 22-month-old daughter, Blake Luna, whom they welcomed in May 2024.

The wedding festivities kicked off with a welcome party boat cruise and also included a round of golf for the guys, a dinner for all guests on the eve of the ceremony and a pool party.
Their ceremony — officiated by Tate O’Connor, one of Uzomah's best friends — unfolded at sunset. A draping installation displayed a surprise video featuring highlights of the couple's love story, right before Quintana began her walk down the aisle. "Nobody knew until the projectors lit up," she says of the surprise.
The bride chose Kyha's Iver wedding gown — which she found at Bloom Bridal — for the big day. The design features a structured scoop neckline bodice with elegant draping and a fit-and-flare skirt. "It's simple and clean, but with dimension," Quintana says of the look. "The structure of the gown won me over. I loved the draping and simplicity of it all."

Quintana walked down the aisle to Noah Kahan's "Forever." In a lighthearted moment, she and Uzomah played "Rock, Paper, Scissors" at the altar to decide who would recite their vows first. They exchanged both handwritten and traditional vows.
For the reception, Quintana changed into Rosie Etienne's Bella stapless minidress, which has a sheer lace corset bodice, delicate embroidery with tonal beadwork and sequins and a scalloped hem.
Following the ceremony, the newlyweds and their guests enjoyed a plated meal with a menu that included a burrata salad, chicken, beef and pasta, which was served tableside after being tossed in a cheese wheel.

Later into the lively celebration, attendees refueled with quesadillas, barbecue brisket sliders and fried chicken. "We love food!" Uzomah notes.
In a sentimental touch, the couple had cocktail napkins made that were printed with a handwritten note that Uzomah wrote to Quintana. The napkins were paired with cocktail toppers featuring a phrase that the two always say to each other, printed in Quintana's handwriting.
Instead of a traditional wedding cake, the couple served an assortment of desserts, including corn cake, chocolate mousse, almond panna cotta and strawberry caprese.

Uzomah and Quintana shared their first dance as husband and wife to "Mad" by Calum Scott. DJ Chris Clouse oversaw the music.
Reflecting on their special day, Uzomah says it was "like a movie and something that could only be fully understood if you were there."

After a honeymoon at Rosewood Mayakoba in Riviera Maya, he and Quintana are looking forward to "slowing down" and enjoying this new chapter as a married couple. They also hope to "see the world together" and grow their family.

For Uzomah, marrying Quintana means "further extending what we have begun building with one another." He adds, "It is expressing and showing our closest people just how much we mean to each other and how much they mean to us."
As for Quintana, she is excited to build a home with Uzomah "that is filled with love, support, acceptance and kids." Reflecting on her love for her husband, she tells PEOPLE, "I love how C.J. lights up every room he walks into. I love that he is a gentle giant and how he cares for me and our daughter."

Uzomah says he admires Quintana's genuine, caring spirit and "enthusiasm for life."
"The simplest pleasures can bring her the most joy," Uzomah explains, adding, "She spreads that to everyone she comes in contact with and, most importantly, loves our family in a way that truly can’t be put into words."
