A 34-year-old Connecticut mother was found dead after police received reports of an unaccompanied 3-year-old girl wandering a neighborhood.
The woman, who has not been publicly identified, was found in the home after Waterbury, Conn., authorities were alerted to a small, unaccompanied child wandering a neighborhood around 11 a.m., CT Post reported.
After the 3-year-old girl was located, authorities said she showed no “signs of abuse or neglect,” the Waterbury Police Department (WPD) said, according to the outlet.
The authorities then located the child’s mother, and she was discovered unresponsive. Emergency services pronounced her dead at the scene. She “showed signs of being deceased for a period of time,” WPD Sgt. Joseph Morais said, CT Post reported.
There were no obvious signs of foul play, WFSB and NBC Connecticut reported. An investigation remains ongoing.
