A 13-month-old baby was found abandoned in a car at a Michigan impound lot on Saturday, Feb. 28.
The baby was reported missing to the Detroit Police Department (DPD), and a DPD detective began an investigation, later suspecting the child was left in the father’s car that was towed to an Eastpointe, Mich. impound lot on Saturday, Feb. 28, WWJ 950 reported.
On Monday, March 2, a man was taken into custody in connection with the incident as authorities investigate potential criminal charges.
The DPD detective then contacted the Harper Woods Police Department (HWPD), according to Fox 2. The HWPD confirmed that the car was towed "due to being abandoned, improperly parked on the prohibited side of the street, and blocking a resident’s driveway." Officials said that the towing service did not do a thorough check of the car because it was reportedly locked, per CBS News.
