  • Miss Jamaica Gabrielle Henry has been released from the hospital, pageant organizers told Jamaican news outlet The Gleaner
  • The update comes nearly four months after the beauty queen’s fall from the Miss Universe pageant stage while competing alongside contestants in Thailand
  • Following the accident, the Miss Universe Organization announced that Henry had suffered a fracture and an intracranial hemorrhage, among other injuries

Miss Jamaica Gabrielle Henry has been released from the hospital four months after her shocking fall from the Miss Universe stage, pageant organizers say.

In a statement shared with Jamaican news outlet The Gleaner, Mark McDermoth and Karl Williams, who are organizers for the Miss Jamaica pageant, confirmed that Henry had been released from the hospital and is currently recovering with help from her medical team.

PEOPLE also confirmed with representatives for Miss Universe Jamaica that Henry has been released from the hospital, but remains under close medical watch and care.

“She has not yet returned to active Miss Universe Jamaica duties, therefore, no interviews nor official appearances are currently on her itinerary,” McDermoth and Williams told the outlet.

PEOPLE has also reached out to legal representatives for Henry.

Following her shocking fall from the pageant stage while competing at the international beauty pageant Miss Universe in Thailand in November 2025, the pageant queen was hospitalized for a fracture and intracranial hemorrhage.

In the months since the fall, Henry returned to her social media sparingly to give updates on her recovery.

In February, Henry took to social media to share the most in-depth update on her recovery since the accident. In an Instagram post shared on Feb. 13, Henry shared photos of herself resting in a hospital bed, as well as another video of her pedaling on a stationary bike.

In the caption of the post, the Jamaican beauty queen and ophthalmologist wrote that this latest season of life had redefined "restoration and renewal for me."

"At a time when I wanted only to represent Jamaica at my fullest, I faced the most unexpected injury of my life," she continued, before going on to note that the fall and its ensuing injury "shifted everything."

Despite the injury and her hospitalization, Henry went on to emphasize that she had learned that a fall could "uncover a depth of strength you did not know you possessed. My greatest strength has been in choosing to rise, even while I am still on the journey."

Legal representatives for Henry also clarified that, since her fall, Henry has been unable to resume her work as an ophthalmology resident.

On Nov. 19, Henry was taken away on a stretcher after a shocking fall from the stage while competing during the Miss Universe preliminary evening gown round in Thailand.

Henry was notably absent from the pageant's official competition the day following her fall, and three days later, it was confirmed in an Instagram Stories post to the official Miss Universe Jamaica Organization account that Henry was still in the hospital.

The Miss Universe Organization continued to share further updates on Henry’s health following the fall, writing in a Nov. 24 statement on Instagram that they would only be sharing updates on her health at the family's discretion.

On Dec. 8, the Miss Universe Organization released a press release on behalf of itself and the Henry family to further clarify the circumstances of her situation, sharing that the pageant queen would be returned to Jamaica alongside a full medical escort team and transferred directly to a hospital for "continued treatment and recovery."

"The Organization has covered all hospital, medical, and rehabilitation expenses in Thailand, as well as the accommodation and living costs for Dr. Henry’s mother and sister, who have remained by her side throughout this difficult period," the statement read.

"In addition, the Miss Universe Organization is funding the medically escorted repatriation flight arranged by the hospital and has committed to covering all future medical expenses arising from this incident."

Prior to the Feb. 13 update, Henry had last shared a message on Dec. 19, explaining that more information would be shared at a later time. Next to photos of herself on Instagram, Henry wrote, "In a time that calls for stillness and healing, I am grateful to be in Jamaica and to feel the familiar strength of Jamaica surrounding me 💚🖤💛."

In a statement regarding her current condition at the time, legal representatives for Henry also told PEOPLE, "Gabrielle remains hospitalised in Jamaica. The incident has exacted a profound toll. An extraordinary woman and ophthalmology resident, she represented Jamaica and women around the world with energy, dignity, and grace. This should never have happened."
