Miranda Kerr is speaking candidly about what it’s like co-parenting with her ex-husband, Orlando Bloom.
While speaking on the Tuesday, Aug. 4 episode of the Let’s Be Honest with Kristin Cavallari podcast, Kerr, 43 — who has spoken openly through the years about how she and Bloom, 49, have remained on good terms — admitted the actor was “like a brother” to her.
Cavallari questioned how Kerr and Bloom had been “great co-parents” ever since their split in 2013, with the Australian model admitting it had been like that “from day one.”

Kerr and Bloom share son Flynn, 15, together. Kerr is also mom to sons Hart, 8, Myles, 6, and Pierre, 2, whom she shares with her husband of nine years, Evan Spiegel. Meanwhile, Bloom is also dad to daughter Daisy Dove, 5, with ex-fiancée Katy Perry.
Kerr said on Cavallari’s podcast, “It’s obviously not easy when you’re separating,” adding, “And there’s always a level of hurt even if you both know it’s for the right reasons. So there’s always a level of hurt both ways I would say in any separation.”
Bloom and Kerr, who started dating in 2007, divorced following three years of marriage in 2013. She tied the knot with Snapchat CEO and co-founder, Spiegel, in May 2017.
Kerr told Cavallari of her eldest child, “The most important thing that I learnt is just to put the needs of the child first,” insisting she’d always ask, “Is this in the best interest of Flynn?”
She continued while discussing co-parenting with Bloom, “And that was really our guidepost for any decision.”
“Through that, we’ve known each other for a long time, we’ve developed such a good friendship that he’s just part of the family. He’s like a brother, you know? So we have that,” the KORA Organics founder added.

Kerr’s latest comments come after she shared how she keeps things “harmonious” while co-parenting with Bloom during an appearance on an episode of the We Need to Talk podcast with Paul C. Brunson earlier this year.
“From day one, Orlando and I had done a lot of spiritual work, and forgiveness was a big part of that, forgiving each other, forgiving ourselves, creating peace within the situation,” Kerr shared. “And we both knew that the relationship was not bringing out the best in each other.”
She continued, “So when we made that decision to separate, I said to him, ‘Let’s always put the needs of Flynn first.’ Like, let’s not make it about us,” adding, “Let’s make it about what’s in the best interest for Flynn. But at the same time, let’s make sure that we completely forgive each other, make peace with each other, because otherwise it really weighs on you.”
Kerr acknowledged that Bloom would always be in her life, so said she would rather be at peace with him than forever fighting.
“When you have a child with someone else, they’re always going to be that person’s parent for the rest of their life, and there are going to be situations when you’re going to need to talk if you like it or not,” she said. “So why not make it harmonious? Why not make it more peaceful?”
