Minions & Monsters is set in 1920s Hollywood, as the tiny yellow creatures attempt to go from being lowly background extras to making their own monster movie — using real monsters.
According to the plot description, Minions & Monsters tells the "rambunctious, ridiculous and totally true story of how the Minions conquered Hollywood, became movie stars, lost everything, unleashed monsters onto the world and then banded together to try and save the planet from the mayhem they had just created."
Will Gru be in Minions & Monsters?

The Minions are the sidekicks to former supervillain Gru (voiced by Steve Carell), but he most likely won't appear in Minions & Monsters since it takes place before Gru was born.
2022's Minions: The Rise of Gru followed the titular character as a 12-year-old boy growing up in the 1970s, which is decades after the 1920s setting of Minions & Monsters.
