Mikayla Nogueira is addressing speculation that her accent is fake.
In a post to TikTok on March 2, the 27-year-old beauty influencer took to TikTok to “reintroduce” herself amid what she said was a recent influx of people coming to her account in recent weeks — and used the opportunity to respond to a long-running rumor that she fabricates her iconic Boston accent after videos circulated of her speaking without it.
“Do I actually have an accent? Yes,” said Nogueira, who was born and raised in Freetown, Mass., a small town south of Boston. “Do I exaggerate it in my videos? Also yes.”
The content creator added that she gets her accent from her dad, whose own accent is “wicked strong.”
“I am a Masshole, through and through,” she said.

Nogueira previously addressed her striking voice in a 2021 interview with peer content creator Brittany Broski for TikTok’s For You podcast, sharing that she “created” her voice while interning for a radio station in college — likening it to a “customer service voice.”
“When I started making my TikToks, I would just use my radio voice because it was professional and it was my first time putting myself on a camera to tons of people, so I was wicked nervous because my voice has been a topic of discussion my entire life,” she continued. “I didn’t know how people would react.”
In her latest TikTok, Nogueira also addressed her recent separation from estranged husband Cody Hawken, to whom she announced she was divorcing in February after the pair tied the knot in 2023.
“I’m just totally myself and a lover girl — a hopeless romantic. I do a lot of research on love languages,” said the creator. “Did I have a failed marriage? I did. But I'm not giving up on love.”
Nogueira said at the time of her announcement that the separation was amicable and that she and Hawken remained quite close.

"He and I were together for five years, married for two. And they are some of the best memories of my life,” she said. “Memories that I will cherish forever. And I do not regret a single thing.”

“I need to look so f—ing hot tonight,” she said in the clip. “I deserve that.”
