The characters in Wake Up Dead Man: A Knives Out Mystery may have more at stake than their romances, but the actors who play them have bustling love lives in real life.
Just like the original Knives Out and its sequel Glass Onion: A Knives Out Mystery, Wake Up Dead Man, which started streaming on Netflix on Dec. 12, stars Daniel Craig as Benoit Blanc, an unconventional detective hired to solve a seemingly impossible crime at a small town church. The crime? The murder of Monsignor Jefferson Wicks (Josh Brolin). The film also stars Josh O’Connor, Cailee Spaeny, Glenn Close, Kerry Washington, Mila Kunis, Andrew Scott and Jeremy Renner.
Each of the three films has been written and directed by Rian Johnson. In August 2024, Close told PEOPLE that filming the movie was “truly one of the best experiences of [her] life,” adding that Johnson created a “cast from heaven.”
Here’s everything to know about the real-life loves of Wake Up Dead Man: A Knives Out Mystery.

The only cast member to return for all three Knives Out films, Daniel Craig stars as Benoit Blanc, an unusually sharp detective famous for his ability to solve unsolvable cases.
In real life, Craig has been married to actress Rachel Weisz since 2011. The couple first met in 1994 when they were cast in a play in London together, but they didn’t connect romantically until they costarred in the 2011 film Dream House.
Craig and Weisz married in June 2011 in New York and welcomed daughter Grace in 2018. The two each have an adult child from a previous marriage: Craig also shares daughter Ella with ex-wife Fiona Loudon, and Weisz shares son Henry with ex-husband Darren Aronofsky.
In October 2025, Craig and Weisz appeared on the red carpet together at the London premiere of Wake Up Dead Man. It was a rare public outing for the couple, who prefer to keep their relationship private.

Josh O’Connor plays Reverend Jud Duplenticy, a former boxer sent to Our Lady of Perpetual Fortitude as punishment for punching a fellow clergyman.
The Crown star was first linked to Saltburn’s Alison Oliver in November 2024. Though the two have never publicly confirmed their relationship, they’ve been spotted enjoying romantic walks and supporting each other on the red carpet.

Josh Brolin, who plays the late monsignor, is married to Kathryn Boyd. The couple met in 2013 when she was his assistant on a film set, and they married in 2016. They share daughters Westlyn Reign, born in 2018, and Chapel Grace, born in 2020, as well as Brolin’s son Trevor and daughter Eden from his first marriage to Alice Adair.
Since welcoming children together, Brolin has been effusive of his “great respect” for his wife.
“Man, do you know how nice it is to look up to your significant other?” Brolin told Fatherly in 2019. “I’ve seen this woman come of age and totally own herself. She’s grown in her confidence and has ownership of who she is.”

Mila Kunis plays police chief Geraldine Scott.
Kunis has been married to her That ‘70s Show costar Ashton Kutcher since 2015. They met in 1998 on the show, where they played sweethearts Jackie and Kelso. When the characters shared their first kiss on set, Kunis told PEOPLE in 2001, it was her first in real life, too.
“I was so nervous and uncomfortable,” she confessed. “I had the biggest crush on him.”
Kunis and Kutcher reconnected in 2012 and quickly went from casual to a committed relationship. They got engaged in February 2014 and welcomed daughter Wyatt Isabelle in October of that year.
In 2015, the couple got married, and the following year, they welcomed son Dimitri Portwood.

In real life, she’s currently single. The eight-time Oscar nominee has been married three times: to singer-songwriter Cabot Wade from 1969 to 1971, businessman James Marlas from 1984 to 1987 and biotech entrepreneur David Shaw from 2006 to 2015. She has one daughter, Annie Starke, from a relationship with film producer John Starke.
Talking to Drew Barrymore on her talk show in January 2025, Close said that she’s not actively looking for another relationship. “I don’t know,” she said. “I mean, I’m always up for anything, but I’m very happy right now.”

In real life, Scott is currently single. He’s previously spoken about being labeled as an openly gay leading man, telling Variety in May 2024 that he doesn’t want to be defined by his sexuality.
“It’s wonderful to be able to talk about sexuality in an open way,” Scott said. “But I do feel sometimes, other people — and by other people, I mean straight people — don’t have to explain or talk about their sexuality every time they go to work.”
