Marjorie Taylor Greene Says She Feels ‘Sorry’ for Donald Trump After His Repeated Attacks on Her

Marjorie Taylor Greene is responding to insults directed at her by Donald Trump following her recent 60 Minutes interview.

Speaking to CBS News on Wednesday, Dec. 10, Greene, 51, discussed Trump’s Truth Social post on Monday, Dec. 8, in which he called her “Marjorie ‘Traitor’ Brown (Green turns Brown under stress!),” and added that she had gone “BAD” after being “JILTED” by him.

“She sort of reminds me of a Rotten Apple!” Trump, 79, added before later describing her as “a very dumb person.”

In response, Greene told CBS News “I actually am starting to feel very sorry for President Trump.”

“It’s actually a very poor reflection on him that he chooses to speak about me that way,” she added about Trump’s reaction to her much-talked-about interview with Lesley Stahl on Sunday, Dec. 7.

The White House didn’t immediately respond when contacted by PEOPLE for comment. 

Greene has represented Georgia’s 14th district since January 2021 and been a longtime supporter of Trump’s agenda. However, the two have been at odds in recent months, with the congresswoman openly criticizing some of Trump’s decisions.

This has included criticizing his administration’s previous reluctance to release files related to the late convicted sex offender, Jeffrey Epstein. 

In November, Trump said Greene had “lost her way” and withdrew his endorsement of her. He also called her a “traitor” the day after she said she was “being contacted by private security firms with warnings for my safety as a hot bed of threats against me are being fueled and egged on by the most powerful man in the world.”

Greene then announced on Nov. 21 that she planned to resign from Congress, effective as of Jan. 5, 2026, describing her treatment from members of her own party as “unfair” and “wrong.”

Speaking to CBS News on Wednesday, Greene criticized the way Trump — who has repeatedly insulted female members of the White House Correspondents’ Association (WCHA) — talks about women.

“He always continues to speak about women like this, and that’s something that women all over the country pay attention to,” she said, per the outlet. “I think the Republican Party needs to take a hard look at it, because the Republican Party has a very difficult time with women voting for them.” 

“It’s unfortunate that President Trump thinks loyalty is a one-way street. It’s really not,” she added. “I do feel sorry for him, because I think he’s extremely unaware, and I don’t know how he can be unaware about this, but he’s not aware of how it makes him really look.” 

Greene’s comments come after she told 60 Minutes that some of her fellow Republicans in Congress were “terrified to step out of line” with Trump in case they got “a nasty Truth Social post on them.”

After mentioning the amount of support Trump has among the party in Congress, Stahl asked, “Behind the scenes, do they talk differently?”

“Yes … oh, it would shock people,” Greene responded, as Stahl insisted, “Well, let’s shock people.”

Greene said, “I watched many of my colleagues go from making fun of him, making fun of how he talks, making fun of me constantly for supporting him, to when he won the primary in 2024, they all started — excuse my language, Lesley — kissing his ass, and decided to put on a MAGA hat for the first time.”
