NEED TO KNOW
- Not everyone is approaching the winter weather of these last few weeks by staying bundled up
- For Ivy the Berner, an Internet-famous Bernese Mountain dog, piles of snow and below-freezing temperatures mean a playdate
- In a video posted on Jan. 20, the dog could be seen making the most of the snow piled up in her family’s Massachusetts backyard
Somebody isn’t letting the winter weather get the best of them.
“Ivy the Berner” is a beloved internet dog who’s amassed a following of nearly 1 million across her TikTok and Instagram platforms (under the management of her owners, of course), for her silly dog personality.
Videos of Ivy, a Bernese Mountain dog, hanging out with her human little sister as they watch the scene from out their front window, taking up space on couches and getting into general doggy mischief have all gone viral, racking up views in the hundreds of thousands consistently.
Over the years, another genre of video has emerged as a fan-favorite of Ivy’s videos: Ivy outdoors — especially in the snow.
In a recent video, which has garnered nearly one million views and 60,000 likes on TikTok and over 175,000 likes on Instagram, Ivy can be seen enjoying the winter weather in her home state of Massachusetts — far more than her human parents seem to be.

In the video, Ivy’s owner can be heard asking the Bernese Mountain dog to come inside for “bedtime.” A temperature marker on the side of the video reads 24°F, and the time 12:01 a.m., and snow in the family’s backyard is piled up.
“Can we get the Bernese mountain dog in from the snow… at midnight?” reads text over the video.
Ivy, however, seems unfazed by the mounds of snow and below-freezing temperatures, happily bounding away into the snow-carpeted backyard. Each time Ivy’s owner, Ryan, draws nearer, the dog fakes him out and bounds away, tail wagging.
Commenters were delighted, with many imagining what Ivy would be saying if he could speak. “‘Ooooo. Dad has come out to play chase!’ – Ivy probably.”
“It’s like the Bernese equivalent of those golden retrievers and labs that keep jumping in their pools,” wrote another amused commenter.
“Hi, I’m Ivy, welcome to winter,” read the post’s caption.
Ivy is clearly no stranger to the snow. Last year, a TikTok post featuring Ivy sitting out in the snow said as much.
“This will be your annual public service announcement: I am not neglected. I am not abused. Do not call animal control. Do not call the police. If you don’t like the cold… then go inside. Just do me a favor… Don’t make me come in with you!” read white text over a montage of Ivy enjoying the snow.
This year, Ivy’s owner posted a similar PSA once again, featuring shots of Ivy enjoying the winter weather.
