Love Island USA star Hannah Smith faces two criminal charges after her September 2024 arrest in Atlanta, according to Cobb County court documents obtained by PEOPLE.
Smith, 27, was arrested on Monday, Sept. 30, on two felony charges after allegedly threatening and attempting to punch a police officer. The incident occurred when the TV personality was escorted out of an Atlanta concert venue for being “disorderly by yelling and screaming,” according to police records obtained by PEOPLE.
On Wednesday, Jan. 15, Cobb County prosecutor Sonya Allen charged Smith with felonies of obstruction of officers and terroristic threats, according to court documents.
Smith “knowingly and willfully obstruct Cobb County Police Department Officer Kayla Winkfield, in the lawful discharge of her official duties by offering to do violence to said person, by lunging at and attempting to punch and kick Officer Kayla Winkfield,” prosecutors allege in the charging document.
The document alleges Smith was “suggesting the death of Kayla Winkfield with the purpose of terrorizing Kayla Winkfield” and “threatening to kill Kayla Winkfield.”
At the time of the incident, Smith was reportedly “intoxicated” as she exited the concert venue, per police records previously obtained by PEOPLE. She allegedly punched an Emergency Medical Staff (EMS) staffer and made contact with their right arm. The staff member did not want to press charges.
Smith then allegedly attempted to punch a police officer who was trying to help her, but she did not make contact. Smith, who was put down on the ground by the officer, was then placed under arrest. Per the report, she allegedly attempted to kick the officer while on the ground multiple times but failed to make contact again.
Then, as Smith was transported to jail, she also allegedly threatened to kill both the cop and the cop’s sister multiple times.
Smith was booked into jail at about 11:45 p.m. local time and held on a $8,000 bond, according to jail records obtained by PEOPLE. She was released on the conditions of her bail, including no consumption of alcohol, marijuana or non-prescribed drugs, and has to submit random tests for each.
In October 2024, Smith’s attorney, Mike Hawkins, told TMZ that Smith ordered a drink at The Roxy music venue and stepped away from her drink to take a picture with fans.
“Shortly thereafter she has no memory of the events that occurred during, or after the concert,” Hawkins told the outlet. “Hannah is deeply troubled by these events. She regrets any actions she took that offended anyone, including law enforcement.”
