A Michigan man's luck didn't just double, it multiplied — a lot — to $1 million when he went late one night to cash in a winning ticket and hit it big with another.
The man went to a gas station in Kent County and decided to buy an Electric 100s scratcher, according to a March 18 news release from the Michigan Lottery.
“I stopped at the Wesco station late one night to cash in a winning Lottery ticket,” said the 31-year-old player, who chose to remain anonymous.
“I [had] won $20, so I put $10 in my pocket and bought one Electric 100s ticket," he said.
Lucky him: “I scratched the ticket in the store and when I saw that I had won $1 million, I started screaming!” he said, noting jokingly that it was “a good thing no one else was in the store, because they would have thought I was going insane!”
The man, who decided to go with a one-time lump sum of $693,000, plans to buy a new car and then save the remainder of his winnings.
