Lisa Ann Walter is looking for love!
The Abbott Elementary star, 61, caught up with PEOPLE about living the single life at the 33rd Annual Elton John Aids Foundation Academy Awards Viewing Party in Los Angeles on Sunday, March 2. When it comes to using dating apps, Walter revealed exactly who she hopes to match with.
“Someone who’s not married,” she begins. “When you look on a dating app, aren’t you looking at code like, ‘Yeah, this guy’s married?’ Not even the physical — it’s what they say. It’s like when they’re like, ‘I want someone who has their own life going on, and we meet up occasionally, but we don’t have to…’ like, he’s basically saying, ‘Will you be my side chick?’”
“You could tell by what they write,” she notes, joking: “They have some weird name like John Smith.”

Walter also opened up about being on dating apps during a conversation with PEOPLE in August, where she shared that she and former Parent Trap costar Elaine Hendrix often exchange their matches and compare stories.
“She does send me her choices if either one of us are ever brave enough to go online and on the apps and look at guys,” Walter said. “She’ll say, ‘What about this guy?’ And, ‘I think that could be fun.’ But then we kind of talk each other out of it. So we’re not great in that way.”
She added, “She is absolutely stunningly gorgeous, as we all know. She says it’s her vegan lifestyle. I’m like, your genetics played a part girl.”
Going on to call Hendrix, 54, “my best friend in the world,” Walter gushed over the dynamic of their friendship.

“She’s beautiful and she’s charming and she’s funny as all get out,” she said. “I love her dearly. She’s also a great caretaker and she’s single. So I look at her, I’m like, ‘You’re a cautionary tale! I look at you and go, ‘You’re single. How is there hope for me?’’”
“She’s more fear factor,” Walter laughed.
In 1999, Walter divorced her first husband, Sam Baum, after he came out as gay. The pair are still good friends and share son Jordan, 36, and daughter Delia, 32.
Since her kids were still young at the time, she has said that impacted her dating life much more than it does today — although it has still been difficult to find someone as a single woman in her 60s.
“It has been a challenge to find a long-lasting relationship in this town,” Walter admitted in an interview for PEOPLE’s cover issue in April 2024. “I don’t know where he is going to come from. One of the things that changes I think as you get older is your concept that you can arrange what your life looks like. You let go of that fantasy.”
