Leonardo DiCaprio brought out a star-studded crowd to raise a staggering $2.5 million for his conservation charity, Re:wild, at a private residence during Art Basel Miami Friday night, Page Six has learned.
Jamie Foxx hosted the exclusive event while Steve Aoki, Daymond John, Soleil Moon Frye, Dustin Yellin, Todd Graves and more showed their support for the cause, which benefited Indigenous peoples, local leaders and community organizations working to protect the planet.
We’re told the “Ray” actor, 56, took to the mic to kick things off before Re:wild co-founder Dr. Wes Sechrest welcomed the elite bunch.
Henena Gualinga, an Ecuadorian environmental and human rights defender from the Kichwa people or Sarayaku, also spoke about her efforts on the ground to protect the Amazon Rainforest alongside the organization.
Foxx and actress Frye led the auction, which featured trips to Madagascar, Argentina, Ecuador and Rwanda, along with exclusive pieces of art like a tiger sculpture by Vasily Klyukin, a piece by Sterling Ruby and a painting titled, “Tiger on Last Legs” by Adrien Brody.
We’re told the funds raised during the auction will directly support the partners and communities on the frontlines protecting and restoring the world’s most irreplaceable forests.
Guests at the benefit were treated to plant-based dishes from Michelin-starred L’Atelier de Joël Robuchon and Michelin-starred Le Jardinier in Miami, expertly curated by The Bastion Collection.
Attendees also sipped on Telmont Champagne, a sustainable champagne house.
We’re told the private home was adorned with native live plants to create a befitting ambiance.
DiCaprio – wearing his signature black baseball cap, a black shirt and gold chain necklace — posed for photos with Sechrest to celebrate the success of the evening.
The “Titanic” star, 50, has helped raise more than $200 million in grants to a variety of global environmental programs and projects that support marine conservation, protect biodiversity and support indigenous communities.
