Pinnock tells PEOPLE all three remaining Little Mix members reconnected with Jesy Nelson after she announced her daughters' spinal muscular atrophy diagnosis

Leigh-Anne Pinnock, Jade Thirlwall and Perrie Edwards recently reconnected with their former Little Mix bandmate Jesy Nelson.
Pinnock, 34, whose debut solo album My Ego Told Me To was released on Friday, Feb. 20, tells PEOPLE all three remaining Little Mix members have spoken to Nelson (who left the group in 2020) since the “Boyz” singer, 34, revealed her 9-month-old twin daughters Ocean Jade and Story Monroe were diagnosed with spinal muscular atrophy (SMA) last month.
“We've obviously all reached out and [are] just sending all just love, strength, positivity,” says Pinnock, who’s also a mom to twin daughters with husband Andre Gray, of Nelson. “I just think she's just incredible just to even raise awareness.”
“I didn't even know that that was a condition,” she adds of SMA, an inherited neuromuscular disorder that weakens and wastes away muscles due to the loss of a specific nerve cell in your spinal cord that controls muscle movement, per the Cleveland Clinic.
“That should be something that you leave the hospital knowing,” continues Pinnock.
Nelson, whose Prime Video docuseries Life After Little Mix came out earlier this month, recently spoke to ITV’s This Morning about reconnecting with Pinnock, Thirlwall, 33, and Edwards, 32, noting that it’s been a “very healing” and “lovely” experience.
The development comes after Nelson told The Sun in 2023 that she hadn't spoken to her Little Mix bandmates in two years.
Pinnock is the third member of Little Mix to release a solo album after Thirlwall’s That’s Showbiz, Baby! and Edwards’ Perrie, both released last year. But she doesn’t feel any “pressure” around following their respective records.
“We're all so supportive of each other,” she says. “We're all in our own little lane doing our own thing. And if anything, I'm just so proud of them. They've both just absolutely smashed it, and I love them so much. And I know that they're rooting for me as well.”

Ahead of releasing My Ego Told Me To, Pinnock didn’t share any of the music with her bandmates. “But I know they're going to love it,” she says.
Thirlwall and Edwards previously attended one of Pinnock’s solo concerts in 2024, while Edwards and Pinnock also recently went to one of Thirlwall’s shows. “And I'm sure they're going to come to mine as well, my next one,” says Pinnock.
