Kate Middleton's favorite color may have changed.
The Princess of Wales, 44, marked Children’s Mental Health Week with a visit to a South London school on Thursday, Feb. 12. There, she joined some students in an activity that involved picking up colorful pom poms with tweezers.
Princess Kate was heard saying, "Can I have a go? Is it hard?" per Hello! magazine.
The outlet reported that the conversation then turned to colors.
"What's your favorite color?" Kate asked the children before sharing her own answer. "I love green. It reminds me of nature and being outside."

The Princess of Wales previously shared that she had a different favorite color during a 2011 visit to the United States. Prince William picked blue as his preferred shade, but his wife said, "I don't know if I have a favorite color," before settling on white.
However, Princess Kate's love for green comes as no surprise. She has been vocal about her connection to the natural world, especially amid her cancer diagnosis, treatment and recovery (after publicly sharing her diagnosis in March 2024, the royal announced in early 2025 that she was in remission).
Dwayne Fields, a chief scout who joined Kate on a 2025 outing in the Lake District, previously told PEOPLE: “She would say, ‘During my recovery, I spent a lot of time in the outdoors because that’s where I felt at peace.' "
The Princess of Wales is also a longtime proponent of “forest bathing,” the Japanese practice of immersing oneself in nature to recharge.
Landscape architects Andrée Davies and Adam White, who collaborated with Kate on a display for the Chelsea Flower Show in 2019, recalled how deeply she connected to the concept. “The Duchess suggested bringing in the Japanese idea of forest bathing,” White said. “The challenge we all have is to create an immersive experience — to make it feel like visitors are in the middle of a woodland.”

Sharing a personal message on social media after the visit, as indicated by signing the note with her first initial "C" for Catherine, the Princess of Wales said, "This year's Place2Be Children’s Mental Health Week is about the importance of belonging. It can be easy to overlook the importance of the things that matter most: love, care and time spent together. Belonging and connection is so important, and is a fundamental part of early childhood development. As Patron of Place2Be, I am incredibly proud of the work they do to support families and communities to nurture children and young people."
