Two girls couldn’t help but practice their curtsies for Kate Middleton.
The Princess of Wales, 44, and Prince William attended the world premiere of Digger at the ODEON Luxe Leicester Square in London on Tuesday, Sept. 22. During the event, a couple of young girls were waiting to see the Princess.
Reporter Rebecca English captured footage and posted it to X of two little girls standing behind a room divider at the movie premiere, with the older girl holding a big bouquet of flowers and the younger carrying a Digger press pamphlet in hand. Both girls patiently waited for the royal couple, peeking behind the divider and anticipating their arrival.

As they waited, both ensured they looked their best, with the younger girl straightening her socks and the older girl practicing her curtsy.
When the couple arrived, the prince and princess greeted the two young girls. In the footage, the prince, 44, chats with the younger girl, and the princess speaks directly with the older girl. The parents of the three had a brief conversation with the girls before thanking them for their gifts and returning to the premiere.
For the occasion, Kate wore a rich plum Jenny Packham gown with a plunging neckline, ruched detailing at the waist and a sweeping skirt. William wore a black velvet suit jacket and black trousers.
At the event, they were photographed with Digger star Tom Cruise. The royal couple’s joint appearance comes four years after they walked a red carpet for a different Cruise flick, Top Gun: Maverick. Prior to the May 2022 premiere, Cruise, 64, invited the couple to a private screening of Top Gun: Maverick in April 2022.

The Digger premiere marked the 73rd Royal Film Performance, held in support of the U.K.’s Film and TV Charity. The prince and princess were welcomed by representatives of the organization before walking the red carpet and meeting the Digger cast and creative team members, including Cruise and director Alejandro G. Iñárritu.
The last Royal Film Performance was the premiere of Ridley Scott‘s Gladiator II in November 2024. Rather than the prince and princess, King Charles, 77, attended, after taking over as patron of the charity following the death of his mother and predecessor, Queen Elizabeth.
While not a patron of the Film and TV Charity, Prince William is President of the British Academy of Film and Television Arts (BAFTA), which supports and develops the production of film, TV and video games in the U.K.
