Kansas City Chiefs player Rashee Rice is being accused of of domestic violence in a newly filed lawsuit.
The 25-year-old wide receiver's ex Dacoda Jones filed the lawsuit in Dallas County District Court on Monday, Feb. 16. According to the original petition, examined by PEOPLE, Jones alleges that she was "physically assaulted by Defendant Rashee Rice at their homes located in Victory Park, Texas, and Lee's Summit, Missouri" between December 2023 and July 2025."

Jones listed specific dates in February, August, October and December, 2024 and claimed that the assaults caused "severe and permanent injuries."
In the suit, Jones alleges that there was "an escalation in violent behavior," beginning in December 2023. "Defendant Rashee Rice continued to repeatedly [assault] Dacoda Jones over the course of their relationship through July, 2025," the lawsuit reads.
Rice's ex alleges that he "grabbed, choked, strangled, pushed, thrown, scratched, hit, and headbutted" her in addition to "[hitting] her with inanimate objects."
"Additionally, he has engaged in other violent and abusive behaviors towards Ms. Jones, including throwing objects, destroying property, punching walls, and breaking furniture, as well as locking her out in the middle of the night," the petition alleges, noting that "many of these behaviors occurred while Ms. Jones was pregnant."

The petition alleges that Jones sustained injuries such as "bleeding, swelling, bruising and other pain and physical injury to her neck, face, mouth, arms, legs, chest and shoulder."
Jones said that she has suffered physical pain and mental anguish and physical impairment, amongst other complaints. She is seeking at least $1 million in damages.
Rice was served with notice of the suit on Wednesday, Feb. 18, according to court records reviewed by PEOPLE.
The petition comes after Jones alleged that she was a victim of domestic violence in January. In a since-deleted post on Instagram, she shared multiple images of bruising on her body and alleged damage to her home.
At the time, she did not name her alleged abuser. However, in a statement shared with PEOPLE, the Chiefs said that they were "aware of the allegations on social media" and were "in communication with the National Football League." The Chiefs' January statement did not name Rice.
"The matter remains under review," an NFL spokesperson told ESPN on Wednesday.
"On October 9th, 2025, well after the parties' relationship had ended, Ms. Jones stated under penalty of perjury in a sworn Affidavit for Non-Prosecution that 'Mr. Rice and I had a verbal argument, but he did not punch me,'" Rice's attorney, Sean Lindsey, said in a statement to ESPN. "We will allow the legal process to run its course and have no further comment at this time."
This is not the first time that Rice has faced legal issues. He was suspended from the first five games of the 2025 NFL season after pleading guilty to two third-degree felonies stemming from a March 2024 crash that he was involved in, according to ESPN. Rice was also sentenced to 30 days in jail and five years probation.
PEOPLE contacted the Kansas City Chiefs and the NFL for comment, but did not hear back at the time of publication.
