Dave Grohl’s wife Jordyn Blum is healing after her husband’s shocking baby announcement.
A source tells PEOPLE that Blum, 48, has “had time to process everything,” nearly two months after Grohl, 55, announced that he’d become the father of a baby girl with a woman outside the couple’s 21-year marriage.
“She doesn’t want to make any hasty decisions, since it’s all affecting their girls,” the source says of Blum, who shares daughters Violet, 18, Harper, 15, and Ophelia, 10, with Grohl. “She’s still unhappy and not wearing her wedding ring, but things have calmed down. She’s leaning on friends.”
When Grohl revealed news of his daughter’s birth in a statement on Instagram, he said he and his family would “move forward together.” An insider recently told PEOPLE that the Foo Fighters rocker is no longer working with a divorce attorney and is “instead hoping to work things out with his wife.”
Another source told PEOPLE that although both Grohl and Blum have been spotted in recent weeks without their wedding rings, Grohl “loves his family,” and is doing what he can to keep things intact.
“Dave’s been prioritizing his family,” the second source said. “He knows he messed up. It’s one of those situations where you don’t realize what you have until you’re about to lose it. He doesn’t want to lose his family.”
Grohl said in September that he planned to “be a loving and supportive parent” to his fourth child, but was working hard to make things right with his wife and older girls.
“I love my wife and children, and I am doing everything I can to regain their trust and earn their forgiveness,” he wrote.
In the wake of her dad’s announcement, Violet seemingly deactivated her Instagram account, though she has since reactivated it.
Grohl and Blum first met in 2001 and dated casually before going their separate ways. They later reunited and tied the knot in 2003.
“I had decided I didn’t want to get serious about a relationship because I was single and I was running around — I was free,” he told Teen People in 2003. “But that was the first thing I thought about when Taylor [Hawkins] came out of [his coma]: I had met the woman that I should marry and have children with and I hadn’t talked to her in months. She said, ‘You’re the last person I thought I’d ever hear from again.’ And I said, ‘Hey, let’s go to dinner.’”
Foo Fighters have no upcoming tour dates on the horizon after pulling out of the Soundside Music Festival in late September.
