Jack Schlossberg, the only grandson of John F. Kennedy, is speaking out about his grandfather’s assassination as the government prepares to release the last remaining documents related to the former president’s murder investigation.
In a series of social media posts, Schlossberg, 32, asserted that President Donald Trump’s decision to declassify the JFK files is not something to be commended.
He also called out his cousin Robert F. Kennedy Jr. — Trump’s nominee to lead the Department of Health and Human Services — for spreading “lies” about the assassination by promoting conspiracy theories.
“The truth is [a lot] sadder than the myth — a tragedy that didn’t need to happen,” Schlossberg wrote in a Jan. 23 post to X, which he shared on Instagram later that day. “Not part of an inevitable grand scheme.”
He added, “Declassification is using JFK as a political prop, when he’s not here to punch back. There’s nothing heroic about it.”
In another Instagram post on Jan. 24, Schlossberg made a direct request of podcaster Joe Rogan, who recently hosted RFK Jr. as a guest and gave him a platform to spread conspiracies about JFK’s assassination.
Schlossberg suggested that Rogan host his cousin on the show again once the remaining JFK files are released so that Rogan can ask “why he lied to everybody about how the CIA killed President Kennedy, and ask him if he went through all the documents.”
“I thought you wanted to actually find out what happened, not just talk about it and make somebody famous so they can parlay that into a Cabinet position,” he said to Rogan, referencing RFK Jr.’s nomination as health secretary.
In the comments of his own video, Schlossberg tagged RFK Jr.’s Instagram account and wrote a message directly to him.
“[W]hy are you so scared of me ? Why don’t you ever respond ? Are you busy pouring over the JFK files ?” he wrote.
He then turned to personal attacks against RFK Jr.’s wife, actress Cheryl Hines.

Schlossberg’s comments come in response to Trump’s Jan. 23 executive order for the files related to President Kennedy’s assassination to be released, in addition to those relating to the assassinations of RFK Jr.’s father, Robert F. Kennedy, and Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.
The executive order calls on the director of national intelligence and the attorney general to come up with a plan to release the files related to JFK within 15 days, and all files related to RFK and MLK within 45 days.
The order did not include a deadline for the actual files to be released.
