Jessica Simpson is celebrating seven years of being alcohol-free.
The musician, 44, announced her accomplishment in a touching Instagram post on Friday, Nov. 1, writing, “7yrs ago today I walked myself into the light of being alcohol free 🤍.”
The post included a black-and-white image of Simpson looking out of a plane window.
In the comment section, several fans and celebrity friends applauded her milestone, including John Stamos, who wrote, “Bravo! 👏.”
The mom of three has been open about her health journey. Last year, she marked six years sober with an Instagram Stories post that linked to a Nov. 1, 2021 post with a Nov. 1, 2017 photo of herself. She wrote over the upload, “6 years sober.”
The 2021 Instagram post included a lengthy caption in which she recalled why she decided to get sober.
“I knew in this very moment I would allow myself to take back my light, show victory over my internal battle of self respect, and brave this world with piercing clarity,” the post’s caption read. “Personally, to do this I needed to stop drinking alcohol because it kept my mind and heart circling in the same direction and quite honestly I was exhausted.”
“I wanted to feel the pain so I could carry it like a badge of honor. I wanted to live as a leader does and break cycles to advance forward- never looking back with regret and remorse over any choice I have made and would make for the rest of my time here within this beautiful world,” the caption continued.
In August, Simpson addressed claims that she started drinking again after a user commented “STOP DRINKING!” under an Instagram post in which she was celebrating her son Ace’s 11th birthday.
“I haven’t wanted or touched alcohol since October 2017 and it has been the best decision I’ve made for myself and for my family. Thank you for your concern, but you have me very misunderstood. Sending love your way,” she replied to the comment.
The multi-hyphenate announced in September that she has teamed up with Gunpowder & Sky to release a documentary about her life.

“I am very humbled to team up with Gunpowder & Sky and Van Toffler, who has been a longtime collaborator and supporter of mine, to make a documentary series that is entirely real, raw and more personal than anything I have done before,” said Simpson in a press release statement. A release date for the documentary has not been announced.
