Jesikah Suggs, a television writer and producer, has died. She was 32.
On Tuesday, Aug. 25, her family confirmed that the Texas-born talent died in her Studio City, Calif., home on Aug. 18, Deadline reported. She had been diagnosed with breast cancer eight years earlier at the age of 24.
Suggs was a writer-producer on Netflix’s My Life With The Walter Boys.
The series, which starred Nikki Rodriguez, Noah LaLonde, Ashby Gentry, Sarah Rafferty and Carson MacCormac, debuted in 2023 and followed a teen who adapted to life with her guardian’s big family in a small town after a tragic loss.
Season 3 premiered on Aug. 6, picking up after Walter family patriarch George’s (Mark Blucas) health scare at the end of season 2.
Suggs, whose credits also include Parenthood, As We See It and It’s Not Like That, worked as a story editor on season 1 of My Life With The Walter Boys. She later became co-producer in seasons 2 and 3.
The 32-year-old had already begun writing in preparation for the show’s fourth season, per Deadline.
“Through it all, she showed up to work every day, eager to defy being defined by cancer,” her sister, Liz, said in a statement to the outlet.

“Two years after her initial diagnosis, her cancer metastasized,” she continued. “Jes, once again, courageously endured and triumphed through every treatment imaginable, and she did it with a smile on her face and love for all the healthcare workers who poured their care into her…Her life will continue to bear fruit in the stories told by every writer she touched — so in a sense, she’ll still be writing for a very, very, very long time.”
The Baylor University graduate sometimes used social media to share details about her journey after being diagnosed.

After hitting a “midpoint of chemo” in November 2018, she reflected via Instagram on “this season of thanks,” writing, “The outpouring of dinners and letters and kitchen sink hair washes is plain and simply a blessing. I feel so fortunate to be surrounded by so many friends and family, eager to give their encouragement and support. In a time that could be quite miserable, when I’d like nothing more than to escape my body for a bit, I have been continually humbled by the incredible community that has so carried this weight with me.”
Suggs is survived by her husband, Watchmen actor Dustin Ingram; mother Roxanne Suggs; sisters Elizabeth Suggs and Kathryn Suggs; brother Jimmy Suggs and wife Elizabeth; two nieces, a nephew and other extended family. She was predeceased by her father Jim Suggs.
A memorial service was held in Los Angeles on Aug. 22, with another service set for Aug. 29 in Grapevine, Texas.
