Jenna Fischer may be famous for portraying Pam Beasley on The Office, but to her kids — Weston and Harper — she’s just mom.
After Fischer and her husband, filmmaker Lee Kirk, married on July 3, 2010, they started a family the following year. The couple became parents for the first time when they welcomed son Weston on Sept. 24, 2011. The pair later announced the birth of their daughter Harper on May 25, 2014.
Despite Fischer’s success and fame, she has strived to give her children as normal of a life as possible, which includes being a present parent.
“I think there’s the perception that every [famous] woman has a driver and a chef and a personal trainer and a nanny,” she told PEOPLE in 2011. “I don’t have any of those things. Like other working moms, I’m trying to figure out how to balance it all.”
Though the public doesn’t see much of her children, Fischer occasionally shares glimpses into their personalities.
“They’re just at the age where they say such interesting things and they have their own interests, which then hook me into their interests,” she told PEOPLE in April 2024. “And they’re really fun to travel with. … There’s a self-sufficiency, and it’s just really a sweet time.”
After her breast cancer diagnosis in 2023, she’s more grateful than ever for her beautiful family. “All of the most important things became so clear so quickly,” she told the Today show in October 2024 following her health announcement.
Here’s everything to know about Jenna Fischer’s kids: Weston and Harper.
Weston Lee Kirk, 13
Fischer and Kirk welcomed their son Weston Lee Kirk on Sept. 24, 2011.
After the actress announced she was pregnant with her first child, she revealed it was a boy during a July 2011 appearance on The Tonight Show. Fischer also told host Jay Leno that her cravings ranged from macaroni and cheese to Lucky Charms and strawberries — but one food item topped them all.
“My big pregnancy craving with him was Menchie’s frozen yogurt and there is a Menchie’s across the street from where I delivered,” she recalled to PEOPLE in April 2014. “After he was born, there is a picture of me eating Menchie’s [and] holding him.”
The Blades of Glory star learned a few things about herself following Weston’s birth, including the amount of sleep she can run on.
“I had really underestimated what I was capable of, because before I had him, I thought I needed things that I didn’t really need,” she quipped in 2013. “I want nine hours of sleep, but it turns out I don’t need it!”
From a young age, Weston was musically inclined and he shared his love of tunes with Fischer.
“He’s a very good drummer. He loves drumming,” she told PEOPLE when her son was 2 years old. “The other day he said to me, out of the blue, ‘Mom, ‘Paradise City’ has a great beat.’ I was like, ‘Paradise City’ does have a great beat!’ ”
These days, he’s interested in sports. For his birthday in September 2023, Fischer took him to a Los Angeles Football Club game and made him a soccer-themed cake from scratch.
“Red Velvet LAFC Birthday Cake for our son. 12 years old!” she captioned a photo. “He’s heading to the game tonight ready for a win! Go @lafc @lafc3252!”
Despite the fact that Fischer was pregnant with Weston while filming The Office (when her character Pam was expecting too!), the actress admitted that he and sister Harper aren’t big fans of her popular sitcom — yet.
“They are not very interested,” she told PEOPLE in April 2024. “From what I understand, it really hooks people around middle school. So we’ll have to see what happens in the next few years.”
Though Weston lives life outside of the public eye, Fischer occasionally shares insights into what the family is up to on Instagram.
In July 2023, she posted photos of the kids hanging out on a boat while they all enjoyed a lake retreat together. “Lake of the Ozarks! Family, Fun, Food, Cousins,” she wrote.
They also went on a trip to Disneyland in September 2022. While Fischer didn’t share photos of her children, she posted pictures of her and Lee and showed what they had been up to. “We took the kids but Mom and Dad had just as much fun!” she captioned the photos.
Harper Marie Kirk, 10
Fischer and Kirk welcomed their daughter, Harper Marie Kirk, on May 25, 2014.
“We are pleased to announce the birth of our daughter Harper Marie Kirk,” they told E! News in a statement at the time. “The family is doing great. We are happy, healthy and sleepy.”
The couple have kept Harper’s life pretty private while growing up, but the actress shares snippets of her childhood, including going on hikes and celebrating Mother’s Day.
Harper has also helped the Hall Pass star improve her selfie game.
“Handed my daughter my phone and she took this photo. It’s so cool!” Fischer wrote alongside an artsy black-and-white shot she shared on Instagram. “Didn’t even know this setting existed! I think it’s somewhere in portrait mode? She also took ten selfies making silly faces 😂.”
Harper has also become close friends with some of the other Office kids.
“My daughter and Oscar [Nuñez]’s daughter are friends,” Fischer told PEOPLE in April 2024. “They’re the same age, and they don’t go to the same school, but they’ve done the same summer camps … and they are good friends.”
In addition, Fischer and her best friend, fellow Office star Angela Kinsey, have watched their kids become close as well.
More recently, Fischer had a tough decision to make when it came to how to approach telling her kids about her cancer diagnosis. “They’re 10 and they’re 13, and they were going to be living in the house while I went through this,” she told Today in October 2024. “They’re going to see it.”
“The biggest thing that I wanted them to know was that any ways that I seemed sick during this process were side effects of treatments,” Fischer continued. “They weren’t cancer making me sick. That distinction, I think, really put them at ease.”
After undergoing a lumpectomy and various treatments, she made a full recovery, even ringing a bell with her husband and kids when she was declared cancer-free. When the actress shared her health news, she thanked her family who helped her through the tough season of life.
“We just kind of did it together. And they were amazing,” she shared. “My Husband, Lee, was absolutely incredible — [sometimes] the most I could do was just get downstairs and sit at the table with a cup of coffee, and he did all the rest.”
