Influencer Enrages Commenters Saying She ‘Changed’ Daughter’s Birthday After She Was Born ‘Too Close to Christmas’

Influencer Indy Clinton has said that she “changed” her daughter’s birthday — and many in her comments had a lot to say.

In a TikTok posted on Dec. 2, the Australian social media star — who is a mom of three — shared that she had “decided to change” the birthday of her youngest daughter because of its proximity to Christmas.

“I just want to let you know what I’m doing as a mother. It made me think, ‘Why don’t more people do this,’ because I cannot genuinely think of any reasons why this would be a bad thing,” said Clinton. “She was actually too close to Christmas for my liking, and I just thought, going forward, she’s never going to know we’ve officially changed it.”

Later in the video, the content creator interjected, telling her followers, “If you see this, will you thank me because I’ve done this for attention reasons,” maybe indicating she was merely joking all along. (According to the Australian Taxation Office, you can only legally change your birthday in the country if you are correcting a previous error, and the process requires official documentation of the correct date.)

Joking or not, many in the comments of Clinton’s video shared their polarized reactions — some who thought the idea would create a logistical hassle for her daughter down the line, and others who believed the gesture was a sweet way to make sure her daughter could get her special moment every year. 

“Do not do this Indy 🤦🏽‍♀️she’s gonna have to fill out official forms when she’s older and not know her freaking bday 😭” wrote one.

“Instead of that, you could always make it a rule to celebrate first week of Dec so that it’s a proper birthday with no combined presents and better chance of people making the birthday parties! And then when she’s older can decide herself :)” shared another.

“As someone who’s birthday is the 26th of December, I don’t know why my parents never did this for me, from here on out I have decided I identify as my birthday being the 16th of December, love ur thinking sis x,” added a third.

Penned a fourth: “Not only is it smart but it is genuinely sweet and thoughtful. Don’t ever change Indy, you are the biggest breath of fresh air and the level of authenticity that this world needs more of. 🥰❤️”

In a video she uploaded later in the day on Dec. 2, Clinton overlaid the text, “pov: when everyone’s accusing you of something you don’t do,” though it was unclear if she was referencing the reaction she spurred to the claims that she was changing her daughter’s birthday.

Earlier this week, Clinton made headlines when she addressed her conduct on the red carpet at the 2025 TikTok Awards.

Responding to a TikTok comment that said she “looked cracked out” during the public appearance, the influencer said, “I hate when people spread untrue things about me.”

“I had been working every day and every night for the last two weeks, so I’m extremely tired,” she said, saying she wanted to provide “context” for her behavior. “Overwhelmed. Tired. Burnt out.”
