An Indiana inmate is still missing after walking away from his work crew, and local police have urged residents to lock their doors.
According to a Facebook post from the Jackson County Sheriff’s Office, 21-year-old Michael D. Anderson, an inmate from Edinburgh Correctional Facility, walked away from their work detail near Vallonia Tree Nursery on Wednesday, March 19. He was last seen near the area of Starve Hollow.
The Indiana Department of Correction said in a separate post that Anderson was serving a three-year sentence after being convicted of two counts of burglary in Lake County.

Anderson is described as a light-skinned, 5-foot-8-inch Black male with black hair and brown eyes who weighs 184 pounds.
His distinctive factors include multiple tattoos, such as a rose tattoo on his right hand, a royal crown on his right arm, and a Chicago Bulls logo on his left leg.
He was last seen wearing a yellow shirt with yellow pants, a Carhartt-type jacket, and an orange hat. Police advise that he also may be wearing “long john” type underwear.
A spokesperson for the Jackson County Sheriff’s Office confirmed to PEOPLE on Wednesday afternoon that officers are still searching for Anderson after he went missing around 12:45 p.m EST.
While they believe there is no threat to the public at this time, they advise residents of the area to lock their doors.

“If you see this male, call 911 immediately,” their Facebook update states. The Indiana Department of Correction also advised anyone with information that may help in the search for him to contact local police.
