The City of Nampa confirmed Hogaboam’s death in a statement shared on Facebook on Wednesday, which began, “It is with the deepest sadness that we must report Mayor Rick Hogaboam experienced a medical emergency tonight and has passed away.”
“We ask the community to please keep his family and loved ones in your prayers during this incredibly difficult time,” the post added.
“As we begin to mourn this unbelievable loss, please provide grace while we navigate the loss of not only our Mayor, but also our friend,” the statement concluded.
Hogaboam had been sitting next to Eagle Mayor Brad Pike, who is a former firefighter, when the medical emergency occurred at the meeting with the TVP, per KTVB.
Pike noticed what was happening and “immediately responded to Mayor Hogaboam by administering CPR,” KBOI reported, citing the statement from the TVP, which is a coalition of mayors and county commissioners drawn from across Idaho’s Greater Treasure Valley.
The town hall meeting was adjourned after TVP staff called 911, the outlet reported, citing the same statement. Local authorities responded quickly amid the medical emergency.
