Skygazers will have one more opportunity to catch a supermoon in 2024! November’s full moon — best known as the Beaver Moon — will peak on Nov. 15.
According to NASA, a supermoon occurs when the moon is at its closest position to Earth, making it appear bigger and brighter in the night sky. The November supermoon is extra special because it is the fourth consecutive supermoon we’ve witnessed since August’s blue moon.
Astrologer Kyle Thomas previously told PEOPLE that full moons are considered times that bring heightened emotions, impulsive behavior and plenty of dramatic events. During a supermoon, that energy will be felt tenfold because of the close proximity to Earth and will affect the collective from Nov. 12 through Nov. 19.
Here’s everything to know about November’s supermoon including how to get the best view and when to catch the next supermoon in 2025.
When will the supermoon be visible?
Per NASA, skywatchers will be able to catch the supermoon on Nov. 15, starting at 4:29 p.m. EST. Unlike a regular full moon, the supermoon will appear bigger and brighter in the night sky.
Where will the supermoon be visible?
Luckily for everyone, the supermoon can be observed anywhere around the world, weather permitting.
How to watch the upcoming supermoon?
You can put away your telescope and binoculars — the supermoon will be hard to miss in the night sky. Per the Associated Press, skygazers will be able to make out the gorgeous details of the moon since the moon can be 30 percent brighter than average.
It’s also recommended to try to catch a glimpse of the moon away from the city lights and the spectacular sight will be best visible between as the moon rises and sets in the evening and early morning.
When will the next supermoon take place?
While the last full moon of the year falls on Dec. 15, skygazers will have to wait until late 2025 to see another supermoon. There will be three consecutive supermoons starting in October 2025, per PBS.
