How Michael B. Jordan Is Involved in the TV Series Adaptation of Rebecca Yarros’ Fourth Wing and What He’s Said About It

Michael B. Jordan is opening up about a much-anticipated project.

The 38-year-old star, who was recently nominated for a 2026 Best Actor Oscar, will be an executive producer for Rebecca Yarros’ upcoming Fourth Wing TV adaptation for Amazon Prime through his production company, Outlier Society Productions. 

“We are making sure that this is going to be [an] exciting show that delivers on all of the things the fans want and some of the things that they won’t be expecting either,” Jordan told Deadline on Thursday, Jan. 22. 

“But trust me, I know how beloved this franchise IP is, and we’re diligently… We’re in the lab, we’re cooking up. We got it. It’s coming. It’s early stages, but I feel how much people care about this one. It’s not lost on us,” he added.

The new series, which was acquired by Amazon MGM Studios, will follow other films and TV shows produced by Outlier Society Productions, including Creed III, Without Remorse, Just Mercy and the Netflix series Raising Dion — all projects that Jordan also stars in.

It is unclear whether Jordan will have a role in the new Fourth Wing adaptation, but he will have a major influence on the series as an executive producer, alongside Yarros and Outlier Society Productions president Elizabeth Raposo. 

The Sinners star previously shared in a since-deleted Instagram post in 2018, per Deadline, that he would incorporate inclusion riders — which allow actors to contractually demand 50% diversity on set — for all projects made by his production company. 

“In support of the women & men who are leading this fight, I will be adopting the Inclusion Rider for all projects produced by my company Outlier Society,” he wrote in the post, per Deadline. 

“I’ve been privileged to work with powerful [women] & persons of color throughout my career & it’s Outlier’s mission to continue to create for talented individuals going forward,” Jordan added.

The actor also opened up to Deadline in 2019 about how Outlier Society Productions chooses which projects to produce. He noted at the time that telling great stories is a top priority.

“Starting in front of the camera, from the actor’s perspective, it’s all about the heart,” he said. “It’s about wanting to create bodies of work and tell stories that will make people go home and think thoughts that will weigh heavily on their heart.”

Fourth Wing is a popular fantasy romance book series that follows 20-year-old Violet Sorrengail — who navigates the never-ending dangers of life as a dragon rider at Basgiath War College — and her fiery chemistry with Xaden Riorson, the most feared dragon rider around.

The Fourth Wing TV adaptation will have additional talent behind the scenes with Anne with an E creator Moira Walley-Beckett, whom Variety announced in July 2025 had been tapped as showrunner for the series. Yarros also announced on Instagram in September that Meredith Averill, executive producer and writer for The Haunting of Hill House, would be joining the team.

On Jan. 20, Yarros shared an update with fans on how the TV adaptation of the book series was going. She revealed that she’s “read two versions of the script now and it is… Oh my God.”

“And I was scared, I was super scared to read it, because I think when you hand somebody your baby and you say, ‘Tell me what you think is important in here,’ you’re kind of like, ‘It’s all important,’ and I kicked my feet the entire time,” she said in a clip posted on TikTok from the Onyx Storm release event.

“I love it. Moira’s done such an amazing job capturing everyone’s voice and the dialogue that you guys love and just the energy and spirit of the book that I am … I could not be any happier,” the author added. “It’s amazing.”
