A Georgia teenager died in a car crash on prom night.
Patience Price, who was a student at Chapel Hill High School in Douglasville, Ga., was pronounced dead at the scene, local outlet WSB-TV reported. She was 18.
The crash occurred around 3:30 a.m. local time on Saturday, March 28, the outlet reported, citing Georgia State Patrol (GSP). Price was allegedly "thrown" from the car because she was not wearing a seatbelt, per the news station, citing investigators.
The car was a Mercedes, and the incident occurred on Rosemont Drive and Chapel Hill Road, the GSP told local outlet 11 Alive. The car was allegedly"traveling at a high rate of speed while negotiating a curve" and then veering off the road, per the outlet, citing GSP. The car "struck an embankment, became airborne, and overturned multiple times," GSP told the outlet.
Price was riding in the passenger seat, and there was another passenger in the back seat, in addition to the driver, according to WSB-TV. The driver and the other passenger were taken to Grady Memorial Hospital for treatment, with the driver sustaining "minor" injuries while the other passenger's injuries were "serious," per the outlet.
The driver of the vehicle "showed no signs of impairment," police said, according to WSB-TV and 11 Alive.
Chapel Hill High School is part of the Douglas County School System, which told 11 Alive that families "were notified this weekend and a crisis team is on campus today."
“She was always there for me anytime I needed her. And she just had so much love,” Price's friend Jazzlyn Scott told WSB-TV. “She had so much to live for. She had graduated early. She didn’t even get to walk the stage.”
“The picture is so clear in my mind of her, and it’s just … It’s insane that I will never be able to speak to her or hug her,” Scott told the outlet.
A GoFundMe organized by Price's mother, Kimberly Jones, is raising money for her funeral expenses. Price was described as a dedicated student who previously "faced kidney challenges," according to the GoFundMe.

“Our sweet Patience, lovingly known as 'PayPay, was truly a light in our lives," Jones wrote. "With her warm spirit and beautiful smile, she had a gentle way of brightening any room she entered. She loved her family deeply and stood by them with a quiet strength that meant so much to us all. Most of all, she loved the Lord, and we hold on to that faith now more than ever."
"She faced kidney challenges with courage and grace, and today we find comfort in believing she is at peace and fully healed," Jones wrote of her late daughter's health.

"While we may never understand why her time with us was cut short, we trust that her life had purpose and that her love and spirit will continue to live on through all who knew her," Jones wrote. "The impact she made was quiet but powerful, and it will not be forgotten."
