Now that HGTV star Chelsea DeBoer has had some distance from the Teen Mom franchise, she wishes she'd done things differently when it comes to her kids.
The Down Home Fab host, who first rose to fame on the MTV reality series, said in an interview with PauseRewind that she wouldn't show so much of her children's lives on screen if she had the show to redo.
"They were on TV so much, especially Aubree, in her early life. Looking back, I don’t know if I would choose that again at this point," said Chelsea, appearing alongside her husband Cole DeBoer.
Chelsea (who formerly used her maiden name, Houska) first appeared on MTV's 16 and Pregnant in 2009. The show chronicled the birth of Aubree, whom she shares with ex-boyfriend Adam Lind. She went on to appear on Teen Mom 2 from 2011 to 2019. She married Cole in 2016 and the couple have welcomed 3 three children together, Watson, Layne and Walker.

"I'm so grateful for it and everything. I'm just saying for our kids now, that's been the biggest difference between the two [shows]," she continued as she explained what the couple has learned about themselves going from Teen Mom to their home reno show.
Earlier in the conversation, she shared, "We learned as we've gotten older and the kids have gotten older, we really want to be selective on how we show the kids, how much we show the kids, and just really try to protect them,"
Down Home Fab "is a totally different show and HGTV has been so incredible," Chelsea continued, noting that their production team told them, "If you are uncomfortable with the kids being on [camera], you just tell us, that is totally fine. If they don’t want to, it’s okay. We will never dive deep into anything personal with them."

During their conversation, Cole and Chelsea also talked about the differences in filming the two series, with Chelsea explaining why she was a bit nervous about appearing on camera during the first season of Down Home Fab.
"I think I had been on TV for so long before and it was such a different dynamic," she said, adding, "Reality TV, such as Teen Mom, was very chaotic, you know, a little negative from time to time. It was a totally different feeling when we started [at] HGTV. I actually wasn't nervous about any of that. I was like, they want us to look good. They want people to love us, and they want to show our true personality. And so I was excited too, just because I trust these people 100% and I'm not nervous about anything. I can say whatever."
