Prince William honored actor Warwick Davis, best known for his roles in Harry Potter and Star Wars, with a prestigious Order of the British Empire honor during a star-studded ceremony at Windsor Castle on Wednesday, March 11.

During the ceremony, William, 43, bent down to eye level with Davis, born with Spondyloepiphyseal dysplasia congenita, a rare form of dwarfism. Davis said afterward that he appreciated the gesture.

“It was lovely the way he came down to my level instead of standing and looking down at me,” he said, according to Hello!.

Davis shared more details from his brief chat with the royal in a video released by Kensington Palace.

“The Prince of Wales said to me today, ‘Have you got one of these already?’ I said no, no,” Davis says in the video. “I worried that if I said yes — ‘Well, you’re not having this one’ — but he said, ‘I’m really surprised, I thought you had one already. You should have had one years ago,’ which is really nice.”

The English actor, 56, was recognized on Wednesday for his contributions to drama and charity. He founded the organization Little People UK, offering support to people with dwarfism, in 2012 with his late wife, Samantha.

“It’s a very dignified honor,” Davis told Times Radio after he was named in King Charles's New Year Honours list in December. “It’s not like a BAFTA – it’s not big and shiny and show-bizzy.”

“It’s a quiet recognition of something that I’ve done in the past, my contribution to drama or entertainment and the charity work I’ve done,” he said, adding, “I didn’t do any of what I do to get an award. I just do it because I enjoy doing it.”

Davis was 11 when he starred as Wicket the Ewok in Star Wars: Return of the Jedi, a role he reprised in two made-for-TV movies. He continued working with George Lucas on Willow and had roles in The Phantom Menace, The Force Awakens, The Last Jedi, The Rise of Skywalker and the two Star Wars Story films. Davis' other credits include Lubdan in the Leprechaun horror franchise and Professor Filius Flitwick in the Harry Potter films.
