A young man heroically rescued a man who had fallen through thin ice on a Colorado lake.
On Sunday, March 1, as a charitable event called the Evergreen Lake Plunge at Evergreen Lake was concluding, a man about 700 feet away fell through the ice, CBS News reported. Scott Lapierre, who was driving by the lake, told the outlet he witnessed a young man run across the frozen body of water to save the other man.
The onlooker noted that he was "amazed" the rescuer didn't fall through the thin ice himself as he ran.
Lapierre told CBS that the rescuer was able to crawl to the edge of the hole and pull the victim out of the water.
Evergreen Fire Rescue confirmed to CBS News that the patient was treated by Emergency Medical good samaitan to his car, but said he left the scene without revealing his identity.

The Evergreen Lake Plunge, which raises funds for children with disabilities, normally occurs around New Year’s Day, but was delayed this year because of difficult weather conditions, NBC affiliate KUSA reported.
Lindsay Frost, secretary for Active4All, told the outlet. "Because of the weather this year and the ice not being what we needed it to be, we’re doing a run and jump sort of situation instead of the actual ice plunge."
About 100 people attended the event, which raises funds for the organization’s INSPIRE program, of which Frost’s son is a participant, according to KUSA. They dove into the water wearing costumes.
The incident came two weeks after the body of Jerry Boucher was rescued after he and his wife fell through ice while enjoying a Valentine's Day walk in Eastham, Mass.
While Jerry's wife, Kit's body was recovered immediately, it took six days for authorities to find Jerry. He was eventually located by members of the Barnstable County Fire Department Technical Rescue Team around 9:30 a.m. local time on Friday, Feb. 20.
The Eastham Police Department (EPD) issued a news release stating that his body was located in a marsh area about a half mile northeast of the Bee’s River parking lot.
