One of the victims told police that she saw the man when she checked under the bed to make sure she hadn’t misplaced anything

A Florida man has been arrested and charged after a couple allegedly found him hiding under their bed at a hotel.
Ritchel Calvaire was arrested in connection with the incident, which allegedly occurred at the Provident Doral hotel in Doral on Thursday, Sept. 10, according to an arrest affidavit filed in Miami-Dade County courts and obtained by PEOPLE.
The Doral Police Department did not immediately respond to PEOPLE’s request for comment on the incident on Sunday, Sept. 13.
According to the arrest affidavit, a man and woman checked into a room at the Provident Doral on Wednesday, Sept. 9. After entering the room, the couple closed the blinds to the room’s rear sliding glass door and went to sleep.

The woman told police that she felt movement near the bed at around 4 a.m. the following morning, but fell back asleep. She said she then felt movement again — this time from underneath the bed — at around 6:30 a.m.
The woman said she looked under the bed at about 7:45 a.m. to make sure she had not left or misplaced any belongings, and that was when she allegedly saw a man hiding there.
She and her companion immediately left the room and sought help from security.
Police arrested Calvaire in relation to the incident that same day.

According to the affidavit, the hotel’s security manager told police that Calvaire had stayed at the hotel previously but checked out on Aug. 31 and had been instructed not to return.
However, he returned about two days later and was escorted off the property after collecting belongings he had left behind, per the document.
A representative for the Provident Doral hotel did not immediately respond to PEOPLE’s request for comment.

Police alleged that Calvaire returned to the hotel yet again and entered the occupied room “by jumping over a balcony fence and entering through a rear sliding glass door,” then “subsequently concealed himself stealthily underneath the victims’ bed” while they slept.
Calvaire was booked on Sept. 10 and is facing a felony charge of burglary of an occupied dwelling and a separate misdemeanor charge of resisting an officer without violence, per public Miami-Dade County arrest and court records.
It is not immediately clear whether Calvaire has retained an attorney who could comment on his behalf.
An initial hearing date has not been set, per court records.
