Emma Chamberlain is clearing the air about her dating rumors with Jack Harlow after their viral red carpet interactions.
In a Dec. 9 episode of Vanity Fair’s lie detector test, the internet star, 24, was asked about the times she interviewed the “First Class” rapper, 27, at the Met Gala — in 2022, and then again the following year.
During their first interaction — which has since been viewed on YouTube over 5.8 million times — Harlow told Chamberlain, “You did a great job” in reference to her makeup application, kicking off a minute of flirtatious banter between the two.
“I just want to make sure we’re comfortable,” Harlow told her towards the end of their conversation, flashing his smile. “Love ya, bye!”

“Love ya,” the influencer responded, blushing a little and cracking up as he walked away.
The duo kept the flirty vibes going in 2023 — reminiscing on their viral moment the year before (Harlow called the two of them a “timeless partnership”). They exchanged a warm hug and another set of “love ya’s” before heading their separate ways.
In her Vanity Fair interview, responding to a question of whether either of her red carpet interactions with Harlow were planned, Chamberlain responded, “Well, the first one was not.”
“After that, I think there was definitely some excitement of like, ‘Let’s do it again!’ ” she continued. “But it still always felt spontaneous.”
Then she addressed the question she said “everyone wants to know”: Did the two of them ever date?
“No,” she said definitively, though the lie detector evidently came back “inconclusive.”
“What?” exclaimed Chamberlain, laughing. “Jack Harlow’s going to be like, ‘What?’ We truly never — well, anyway. I screwed myself there.”
Both Harlow and Chamberlain previously addressed their first viral red carpet interaction in separate 2022 interviews on The Tonight Show, recounting their memories of the experience to host Jimmy Fallon.
“That’s like a piece art, because there’s so many ways to interpret that,” said Harlow coyly of the clip, days after the Met Gala. “Everyone has a different take on what was going through our heads, so I’ll leave it up to interpretation.”
A month later, Chamberlain reacted to Harlow’s comments, telling Fallon, “That’s sweet. I love it!”

“When I’m doing these interviews, it’s blank up here,” she continued, pointing to her head. “When I go home and I watch the interviews again, I’m watching a completely different person. I’m not thinking about anything.”
Last month, Chamberlain confirmed on an episode of her podcast, Anything Goes, that she was “going through a breakup” after being in a “serious relationship that was two years long.” She was previously rumored to be dating musician Peter McPoland after the pair were spotted together at the 2024 Paris Olympics and wore coordinated Halloween costumes later that year.

“I’ve had quite a few boyfriends, but I’ve had very short breaks in between, meaning I haven’t really been single. So it’s a little bit daunting to be in this place now where I’m single again,” she reflected in the episode. “This time, I know I should be single for a little bit longer than two or three months. I think this time I need to be single for like a year.”
She also caused a stir online in late November while promoting an appearance on bestie Owen Thiele’s podcast In Your Dreams by dancing along to “Sally, When the Wine Runs Out” — a track by her ex (and PEOPLE’s first-ever Sexiest Man Alive centerfold) Role Model. She and the singer, born Tucker Pillsbury, dated between 2020 and 2023 in a romance widely adored by their respective fans.
