The television icon previously opened up about his fitness routine, revealing that he hits the gym three times a week, while appearing on Ted Danson’s podcast Where Everybody Knows Your Name in January 2025.
“Somebody said, ‘To what do you attribute your age and physical condition?’ ” Van Dyke said during the interview.
“I’ve always exercised three days a week,” he continued, adding, “[My wife and I] go to the gym still, and I think that’s why I’m not stove up like my equals.”
The star added that he also now does a lot of stretching, sit-ups and yoga.
Danson, 78, chimed in, sharing that he recalled being in awe of The Dick Van Dyke Show star’s level of fitness when they both previously worked out at the same gym in Malibu, Calif.
“I would go to the same gym you did, and if I got there early enough, I would see you literally work out on some weight machine,” Danson said. “And then, almost like you were doing circuit training, you would not walk to the next machine, you’d dance. You literally danced to the next machine.”

“I feel really good for 100,” he said while sitting with his wife, Arlene Silver, 54, at their Malibu home.
“Sometimes I have more energy than others — but I never wake up in a bad mood,” he added before quipping, “I feel like I’m about 13.”

The centenarian went on to say that he thinks an overall positive outlook may be one of the secrets to his longevity.
“I’ve always thought that anger is one thing that eats up a person’s insides — and hate,” he explained. “And I never really was able to work up a feeling of hate. I think that is one of the chief things that kept me going.”
“There were things I didn’t like, people I don’t like and disapprove of,” the Mary Poppins actor continued. “But I never really was able to do a white heat kind of hate. My father was constantly upset by the state of things in his life, and it did take him at 73 years old.”
