Shop picks inspired by her look from $30
Welcome to The Blueprint, where we break down the celebrity looks we want to wear right now and build them back up, piece by piece.
I may be writing this story amid New York City's first blizzard in a decade, but all I can think about is my spring wardrobe (some call it delusion, I call it manifestation).
One spring staple that’s sitting at the top of my must-buy list? Wide-leg capri pants — otherwise known as culottes — which have taken over trend predictions, mood boards, and, most recently, Diane Kruger’s closet.
The German actress wore the pants with Oxford shoes and a simple sweater during an appearance in Munich, and all I can't help but notice how well the sophisticated style would work for the office. Not only do they appear to be totally comfortable, but they look polished enough for more formal outings, too. Below, join me in shopping her outfit blueprint from $20.

Uniqlo Cotton Culotte

$50 at Uniqlo.com
These culottes possess all of the qualities that I love about Kruger’s pair: trouser-like details, stately pleats, and a roomy, wide-leg silhouette. They’re made of a moderately thick cotton-blend fabric that’s well-suited for early spring weather and balmy summer days alike, and one shopper called them “extremely comfortable.”
The best part? While I can start wearing them now with sweaters and cardigans, I’d be lying if I said I wasn’t already looking forward to styling them with a tank top and platform sandals once temperatures warm.
QJN Platform Oxford Shoes

$42 at Amazon
Oxford shoes first landed on my radar when Sandra Bullock wore a pair earlier this year (yes, I know I’m late to the game). Kruger’s outing just proved I definitely need a pair in my spring shoe lineup. This similar option from Amazon has a memory foam insole that will keep feet comfortable throughout long days of walking outdoors — something I plan to do if and when this N.Y.C. snow ever goes away.
Quince Mongolian Cashmere Crewneck Sweater

$50 at Quince.com
I actually own this exact Quince sweater in the brown shade, and can confirm that it feels as cozy as it looks. Its cashmere fabric feels unbelievably soft (especially when considering its affordable price tag), and its roomy fit feels comfortable without looking baggy. While Kruger layered her sweater over a collared shirt, I love wearing mine over crewneck tops or throwing it over my shoulders on warmer days.
