With a front-row seat and a wagging tail, one very good boy proudly watched his owners say "I do."
Hannah Duane Schott, 34, and Tyler Joseph Schott, 35, wed at The Pridwin Hotel and Cottages on New York's Shelter Island on June 14 — just two years after adopting their pet dog, Gus. No one was more excited to witness the ceremony than the beloved 3-year-old English cream miniature long-haired dachshund.
A video of Gus, who is lovingly nicknamed Goose, being walked down the aisle by the groom's youngest sister, Julie, before sitting down in the front row with family was recently shared on Instagram by the wedding content creators, Wedding Day Content Co. In the clips, Gus sweetly looks up at Hannah and Tyler with deep admiration as they tie the knot.
"When the love is in your dog's eyes the whole ceremony," Wedding Day Content Co. wrote in an onscreen caption.
The 172 guests were unsurprised that Gus was at the wedding, given how "obsessed" the couple is with him and that they chose a dog-friendly venue. They laughed, clapped and smiled when Gus made his grand entrance, and many asked to hang out or take care of him throughout the wedding weekend because he's so "fun and easy."

"Gus is just our favorite little guy," Hannah tells PEOPLE. "Our family and friends can't get enough of him either, so it was no question he would walk down the aisle as our ring bearer, and sit next to us as we took our vows. The first time Tyler and I ever stayed at The Pridwin, it was July 4th weekend 2023, just after we got Gus. It's safe to say the Pridwin is a special place to all of us… we've never been there without him!"
In the moment, Hannah was unaware of Gus' adorable reaction because she was focused on the ceremony. It wasn't until late January when she saw the video — which is her favorite scene from the entire celebration — that she realized how focused Gus was too, which made her "so emotional."

As for how Gus felt at the time, Hannah thinks it was a mix of confusion and excitement.
"I think Gus was probably a little confused (why is this party so quiet?), but he was surrounded by all his favorite people and got LOTS of cheers and claps walking down the aisle," she says.
She continues, "So to sum it up, he was in his happy place as the star of the show."
Hannah and Tyler got Gus in early summer 2023, shortly after they moved in together in New York City.
"He quickly became both the biggest love and terror in our lives, testing our relationship and showering us with snuggles and that endless puppy energy!" Hannah says. "He's our best friend."

Gus not only joined his owners at their ceremony and after-party, but also at the pickleball tournament and welcome barbecue the day before the wedding.
