NEED TO KNOW
- Cameron Goff proposed to Tia Goff on June 10, 2015, at the elementary school where they met in second grade
- The couple returned to the elementary school on March 10, 2026, where Tia proposed back to Cameron
- The couple got “re-engaged” as a lead-up for when they get “re-married” later this year on their 10th wedding anniversary
A married couple got "re-engaged" at the place where they first met.
Cameron Goff, 33, and Tia Goff, 34, met in the second grade at Jonathan Elementary School in 1998. They were "constantly around each other" because they were in the same small gifted program at the time and throughout high school. Three months before graduating, the seniors turned their longtime friendship into a relationship by officially dating on March 10, 2010.
Five years later, the couple returned to where their love story began with Cameron proposing outside their Minnesota elementary school on June 10, 2015. They tied the knot the following year in Glenwood City, Wis., on Sept. 10.

To celebrate their 10th wedding anniversary this September, the couple will get "re-married" in a five-day vow renewal celebration in Italy — complete with a wine tasting, a cooking class and themed dinner parties. So, Tia figured they should get "re-engaged" too.
"I felt that it would be fun for Cameron to get proposed to," Tia tells PEOPLE. "He spent all the time and energy planning our initial engagement, and so why would we go through life without the other partner getting to experience that surprise and emotion?"

She adds, "Plus, it’s fun to do something extra like this for the whimsy of it all. Life can be whatever you want it to be, so why not get re-engaged?! Who knows, maybe we will get re-engaged multiple times throughout our lifetime — we make the rules!"

When Cameron popped the question nearly 11 years ago, he first led Tia around the back of the elementary school and reminisced on their life up to that point. When they arrived at the front of the school, their parents and Cameron's siblings surprised them as he got down on one knee in front of a homemade banner over the school's sign that read, “I’ll love you forever…Marry Me.”
Tia decided to replicate the big moment by proposing back to Cameron at Jonathan Elementary School on March 10, 2026 — the 16th anniversary of their first date. She even made a sign that read, "I’ll love you forever… Re-Marry Me."
Tia organized the proposal in just two days. She figured Cameron would piece together that "something [was] up the second [they] arrived" because "the average person doesn’t typically pop by their elementary school," so she focused the surprise on the people there.

"Babysitters were quickly arranged, people left work early, our sister and brother-in-law came straight from the airport from their own trip," Tia explains. "It was cool to see people show up in the snow and cold for us. But the best memory was getting to give Cam something that he had given me: getting to show him love and surprise him in a way that isn’t too common for heterosexual couples."
She continues, "We love to fill our home, build strong relationships, and have a soft place for friends to land. That’s very important to us. So as I led Cam around the school and reminisced on our last nine and a half years of marriage, the people and relationships were very key to that. We came around the school, and our families and friends where there cheering with bells and whistles hooting and hollering."

Tia and Cameron's beloved 10-year-old pet dog, Bella, even joined in on the fun. The couple has had the American pit bull terrier mix since she was 3 months old, and she was "pumped" to witness her owners get "re-engaged."
"She was so excited to see us as we came over the hill, but I don’t think she knew what a proposal was or what was going on. She was just happy to be with all of her favorite people," Tia shares. "When we first got engaged, we had not yet adopted her. But she was born about a month before that. We adopted her two months later. So she didn’t get to be at the first proposal and then didn’t get to be at our wedding. So it was special to have her at this big life moment."

The second proposal happened exactly six months before the couple is set to get "re-married."
The Goffs will renew their vows at Borgo Casa al Vento in Italy. They'll be joined by 50 of their closest friends and relatives, including their original wedding officiant and several friends from high school.
