From the looks of it, the OneChicago premieres in October will be both heart-pounding… and heart-breaking.
In PEOPLE’s exclusive first-look teaser trailer for NBC’s Chicago Med, Chicago Fire and Chicago P.D., lives are most certainly on the line.
“When it feels like life or death, it can be easy to justify stepping over other people to save yourself,” Fire‘s Stella Kidd (Miranda Rae Mayo) says. “But you live or die together.”
The footage shows Joe Cruz (Joe Miñoso) in danger — as she says “life or death,” no less — in the massive structure fire from Fire‘s season 14 cliffhanger in May that left a majority of Firehouse 51 in peril. PEOPLE confirmed in July that Miñoso, who has been on the NBC hit since the beginning, would be leaving the show after a few final episodes.

The teaser also shows Kelly Severide (Taylor Kinney) and Christopher Herrmann (David Eigenberg) looking rough while in that fire. In the season 14 finale, the two of them, as well as Cruz, Kidd, Mouch (Christian Stolte) and others, were scattered in and around the building when Chief Dom Pascal (Dermot Mulroney, who will only appear in one episode this season) ordered all of the firefighters to evacuate, and a major explosion went off inside the structure.
In footage from the new season of Chicago P.D., Kim Burgess (Marina Squerciati) looks worried in the passenger seat during a high-speed chase, and Dante Torres (Benjamin Levy Aguilar) runs alongside a perp across from him in the opposite building.

Elsewhere, Hank Voight (Jason Beghe) is performing chest compressions on someone, and it doesn’t look like it’s going well. Eva Imani (Arienne Mandi) is by his side, looking concerned as well. In the season 13 finale, Imani was reunited with her long-lost sister Shari only to learn that Shari was the killer in the murdered sex worker case they were working. The final moment showed Imani asking Voight if she would be charged — and then the show cut to black.
“We’ll give an answer to what they’ve decided,” P.D. showrunner Gwen Sigan told NBC Insider. “There’s so much that could happen and sort of needs to happen. So it will definitely be something we dive back into.”

In the teaser’s moments from Med, a car crashes into the E.D., though the fallout from that is unclear. Most of the footage shows Dr. John Frost (Darren Barnet) with a young patient with medical equipment around her head and, later, making a pinky promise to a patient wearing a white sequined dress covered in blood splatters.
There’s no sign of Dr. Hannah Asher (Jessy Schram) and Dr. Dean Archer (Steven Weber), who welcomed their baby girl, Mabel, in the season 11 finale. Ditto Sharon Goodwin (S. Epatha Merkerson), whose job is in jeopardy after she locked horns with Miranda from the hospital board.
