Chase Infiniti is happy to lean on her girlfriends.
The Julia Set star, 26, caught up with PEOPLE at the Toronto International Film Festival’s Road to the Golden Globes party, which took place at the Four Seasons Hotel Toronto on Saturday, Sept. 12 and included guests from Courteney Cox to Colman Domingo. There she spoke about why she’s grateful for her support system of costars.
“Getting to work with Chloe [Bailey] on The Julia Set was the biggest gift. And then getting to work with Rowan Blanchard [on The Testaments]— she’s here with me today. And so I feel very lucky that a lot of my projects, especially recently, have involved female friendships,” Infiniti says.

She adds that Bailey, 28, is “such a light,” and “the same [is true]” with Blanchard, 24.
“I think that female friendships are very important in my life, and I love to see it reflected onto the screen. With Chloe, you just instantly are filled with love from her, so it’s easy to be her friend and easy to play her friend. And the same with Rowan. She is one of the realest people ever, and just getting to share the screen with her too — I feel so honored to be with people who love what they do, who are good at what they do and also are just genuine people,” she adds.

In The Julia Set, Infiniti “stars as a gifted university student who becomes romantically involved with a teaching assistant as they both prepare for the Putnam Exam, the most challenging math competition in North America,” according to an official synopsis of the film. Bailey plays the best friend of Infiniti’s titular character, Julia.

After skyrocketing to fame for her turn as Willa Ferguson in last year’s One Battle After Another opposite Leonardo DiCaprio, Infiniti says she relies on her real-life best friend, too, to help her navigate “the public eye.”
“It just is a lot more check-ins with each other. Even outside of Rowan or Chloe, my best friend— she’s not in the business, she’s not in the industry— and there’s moments where she does extra check-ins with me. And those are the things that I think help keep me grounded, help keep me centered because it’s hard to do this,” she says.

Jason Isaacs, Christopher Briney and Gillian Anderson also star in The Julia Set, which premiered at TIFF on Sept. 11.
“She’s such a wonderful and strong human being and that just is brought forward in her work,” Infiniti says of getting to share the screen with Anderson, 58. “She’s an icon. So I think just getting the opportunity to work with her and also just like be in her presence and in her orbit? That was so special.”
The Toronto International Film Festival runs through Sept. 20.
