Cardi B isn't looking to be the drama when it comes to entering the beauty space with her peers.
The "Up" rapper, 33, is launching her own haircare brand, Grow-Good Beauty, on April 15, but she isn't worried about one-upping other celebrities who've garnered success in the beauty industry with their own haircare lines.
Appearing on the Aspire with Emma Grede podcast, the mom of four was asked how she felt about entering a "saturated" market. Host Emma Grede said, "Did you ever sit there and think, okay, you've got Tracee [Ellis Ross] with Pattern Beauty, Beyoncé with Cécred, Rihanna with Fenty… there's a lot of competition…?"

Cardi quickly shut down the assumption. "It's not even about competition," she clarified. Rather, she thinks about whether or not a product can speak for itself. "It's about what's going to have your hair growing." She added that she actually likes Beyoncé's brand, which launched in February 2024. "It's very f—ing good. I'm saying it with confidence."
At the end of the day, Cardi wants to create a line that will work — after all, she has been open about the ups and downs of her own hair journey with her fans. That includes when she was criticized for the look of her hair as someone who is "mixed" (Cardi was born to a mother from Trinidad and a father from the Dominican Republic).
"I want women of color with tighter curl patterns to know that you don’t have 'bad hair.' There’s no such thing as bad hair, and 'good' hair don’t mean a certain texture. All hair is good."
While promoting her brand, Cardi has also been candid about some of the surprising tricks she's tried to stimulate hair growth.
In 2022, she revealed the recipe of her all-natural onion treatment, and recently, she said that she once incorporated raw garlic into her routine, which, of course, had its consequences. "I put it too raw in my hair and for six months straight,” she revealed in March on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon. She added that “every single time I [would] sweat, I smelled like a pasta bowl. It was gross.”

During her interview, she expanded on the inspiration behind Grow-Good Beauty.
“I was doing my own masks in my kitchen, using what I already knew from my family’s recipes and what I learned from my own research. I really took my time to get my hair looking healthy again after years of damage. And guess what? It worked. Now I wanna share my hair journey with everybody.”
