- One woman is done shouldering the holidays on her own

One woman is burned out from making the holidays special for her family.
In a Reddit post, the woman shared her issue with being the only one who makes time for planning their celebrations and asked for advice on how to handle it.
“I am a single mom and for years I have been the full time holiday department in this house. I decorate for every season. I cook the entire Thanksgiving meal. I put up the Christmas tree. I wrap gifts. I clean everything. I basically run Santa’s workshop out of my living room with zero staff. My own kids do not believe in Santa anymore, so they know exactly who is doing the labor. Spoiler, it is me,” the woman wrote in her post.
The woman shared that she and her sister both take care of their sick mother together and live in the same home. Her sister’s son also lives with them.

The woman then added that her sister’s son still believes in Santa. Her sister, however, “refuses to help with anything.” According to the woman, her sister doesn’t decorate, cook, clean or plan anything related to the holidays or keeping the magic alive for her son.
“She just drifts through the holidays like a guest in a hotel lobby, enjoying the vibes that I single-handedly create,” the woman wrote.
“This year, I reached my limit. I said I quit. Holidays are cancelled until someone besides me acts like they live here and not like they are rating my services on Yelp. Now my sister is mad and saying I am ruining Christmas for her kid. But if it is that serious, maybe she should try participating in the season instead of participating in the eating,” the woman shared.
People in the comments section agreed with the woman and suggested that her sister step up to work to make the holidays special.
“Your sister needs to pick up the slack for her kid!! You’ve handled your job. She needs to do hers,” one person commented.
Another person wrote, “Hey, if you’re not feeling it, don’t put yourself out. You seem a little burned out from carrying the whole load. Take a break… if the others miss it, let them figure it out.”
The woman who wrote the original post replied and said, “Thank you for saying this. That’s exactly it! I’m burned out this year.”
