A bride who was dumped by her husband-to-be right before their wedding has opened up about why she still went ahead with the big day on her own.
Katherine Jones spent 18 months planning her dream wedding in Tuscany, Italy, but one week before they were due to tie the knot, her fiancé told her he wouldn’t be coming.
Despite being “heartbroken,” the businesswoman chose to continue with the destination event and celebrated with 30 of her closest friends and family.
“I was devastated, like, when he told me the night before the decision was made, but I tossed and turned all night and just decided there and then, well, it carries on, it has to,” she said during an appearance on British TV show Good Morning Britain on Wednesday, Aug. 26. “It’s seven days before, everything’s paid for. Everyone’s booked their flights, like there’s no option…”

Jones said the morning after her ex-partner broke off their engagement, she rang her mother and sister, who informed guests about what had happened, but said the “party was still on.”
When asked whether her in-laws attended, she replied, “No, they didn’t come. Seriously nothing against them, it was purely that they would’ve reminded me of him and that would’ve upset me further. So I just said, ‘Let’s keep it to us,’ so it was just my friends and family.”

The 36-year-old, from Liverpool, England, posted a series of TikTok videos from her wedding day that have since gone viral, racking up a total of over 20 million views.
One showed her singing to Raye’s “Where Is My Husband!” inside a church and said, “POV the groom didn’t make it to the wedding.” She captioned the video, “Saved from a life of boredom & divorce 😆.”
Jones was then seen dancing along to “Young Hearts Run Free” by Candi Staton and wrote, “POV you dodged a divorce.”
A third video showed her getting her makeup done and said, “When you’re getting ready for your wedding but the saxophones keep getting louder (spoiler the groom didn’t attend).”

Jones told Good Morning Britain she never picked up her wedding dress and instead decided to wear her evening gown for the three-day event, which featured a dinner, a formal ceremony and a pool party.
Her mother and two sisters still made their speeches, but spoke about Jones’ upbringing and her career as a businesswoman instead.
“They were just very much bigging me up and trying to make me feel happy,” she said on the morning show.
As there was much more room at the venue, the jilted bride was able to move around each table and spend time with all of her loved ones.

When asked by one of the hosts how much of her smile was exaggerated, Jones replied, “There’s certainly a mixture. Two things can be true at once. I was heartbroken and I was devastated. I’m up and down. It helps having all the support around.”
Although she was “crying,” she added that a lot of the time was spent “laughing” as her friends, who were filming the TikToks, made her giggle.
Jones said her friends “were the best” and that she “wouldn’t have gotten through it without them.”
“I don’t think he was wondering what he lost; I think he was wondering, ‘Oh my God, I’m so shy, why has she done this to me?’ But why did you do that to me?” she said of her former fiancé.
Her story has since been told across the world. The Mayor of Val d’Orcia, where her wedding venue was located, even got in touch.
“They were like, ‘Oh come back and visit us!’ And then people were saying, ‘Come to my vineyard, I’ll give you a free stay,’ ” she said, before revealing she was going to move to Italy.
