Brazilian beauty influencer Jhei Soares died in a flash flood at age 28 on Sunday, Nov. 24.
CNN Brazil reported that the social media star — whose real name is Jenniffer Soares Martins — was with her husband as she was caught in a flood in the Minas Gerais area of Brazil. In a video shared by the New York Post, Soares and her spouse, Wallison Lima, leaned on each other beside their car as someone attempted to rescue them with an extended ladder.
The State Civil Defense Coordination issued a statement acquired by CNN Brazil, which explains that the content creator exited her vehicle amid the storm. The couple attempted to shield themselves with the body of the car as those attempting to help with the ladder seemingly tried to advise them on how to escape.
Security footage shared by CNN Brazil shows that Soares was swept away into the flooded street after another car collided with hers. Lima appeared to stand for only a few seconds longer before being dragged down into the water as well.
Around the time of her death, Soares had over 86,000 followers on Instagram, where she shared style and beauty updates on her life.
Though Soares was found dead after the flooding accident, her husband survived. He’s since shared social media updates mourning the loss of his wife.
In recent Instagram Stories, Lima posted photos of him and Soares and addressed her directly in Portuguese. “I don’t know what I do without you here,” read an English translation of his post from Monday, Nov. 25. “I don’t how I’m going to go on without you it’s killing me inside.”
He captioned another selfie, “I just wanted to be like this with you now.”
