Bobby Flay is giving insight into a crucial error chefs make on Beat Bobby Flay.
The chef took to his Instagram stories on Thursday, March 12, to answer fan questions about the Food Network show, sharing a common error that contestants make.
“What is a common mistake that most chefs make on the show?” a fan asked.
“They make a ‘special’ version of their signature dish,” Flay replied. “That’s where it always goes wrong.”

The chef also teased a new twist on the show — a contestant being tasked with making one of Flay’s signature dishes.
In response to the question, “ever thought of doing a reverse Beat Bobby Flay? They have to make your dish,” the Bobby’s Triple Threat star said, “one coming up!”
Flay recently opened up about the challenge on Beat Bobby Flay that trips him up the most – baking.
“Not my fave,” Flay said about the culinary challenge type. “I’m a fish out of water, but I enjoy the challenge.”
The chef recently gave further insight into how the Food Network show is made, revealing on Feb. 5 that the guest judges as “always a surprise when I see them.”

“The producers and I pick the co-hosts,” he said. “I have no input on judges.”
The celebrity chef told PEOPLE about how he creates his Instagram Q&As earlier this year at the 2026 South Beach Wine & Food Festival (SOBEWFF).
“I literally answer those questions, I swear to you, in less than four minutes,” he said of the Stories posts where he answers fan questions. “My team gives me the questions, they write through all the questions, they give them to me. I answer them right away. And I want them to be very spontaneous.”
He also said that a lot of fans ask him about Brooke Williamson, his girlfriend of nearly a year who also stars on the Food Network.
“I think probably the most popular ones are when people ask me about Brooke and cooking and stuff like that, because for some reason, people are interested in my love life," he said, laughing. “I'm not really sure why, but they are. So have at it.”
