Bill Hader is here to help.
On Thursday, Jan. 10, the comedian, 46, approached a local news outlet and offered his services to spread awareness about the ongoing Los Angeles wildfires.
In a tweet shared to X, ABC7 journalist, Josh Haskell revealed that he and his crew were in for a shock when Hader approached them in the Pacific Palisades.
“An only in LA moment on Thursday at road block for #PalisadesFire,” Haskell wrote alongside a photo of Hader wearing a mask and holding up a peace sign. “Resident trying to gain access came up to news van as if he was part of our team, wanted to help cover, ride with us.”
“Then, he pulled down his mask, smiled and it was Bill Hader! Couldn’t have been nicer!” he added.
As of Friday, Jan. 10, there have been at least 10 fatalities from the ongoing wildfires, according to L.A. County medical examiner. Thousands of structures have been affected so far in what is already the most destructive firestorm in the city’s history, which has also disrupted a growing list of events and business activities.
The fires, which began on Tuesday, Jan. 7, have spread quickly in different parts of the city, and information is still evolving about the scale of the destruction and when the blazes will start to be contained.
The disaster has left tens of thousands of Los Angeles residents displaced and forced to evacuate from their homes. Some of the most notable celebrities that have been affected include Leighton Meester and Adam Brody, Paris Hilton, Miles and Keleigh Teller and more.
On Jan. 8, Billy Crystal revealed that his family had lost their home in the Palisades, in a statement shared with PEOPLE.
“Words cannot describe the enormity of the devastation we are witnessing and experiencing,” he began. “We ache for our friends and neighbors who have also lost their homes and businesses in this tragedy. [My wife] Janice and I lived in our home since 1979.”
He continued, “We raised our children and grandchildren here. Every inch of our house was filled with love. Beautiful memories that can’t be taken away. We are heartbroken of course but with the love of our children and friends we will get through this.”
